In second grade I didn’t know what banging was but I knew I wanted to do something to my bus driver.
She was hawt!
I don't see a problem with free driver education classes.
If I'm not mistaken the bus drivers in N.C. up through the 70's were often high school students who lived on the route. Might still be.
My young kids were on a rural school bus around here, when the lady driver stalled the bus on a pretty steep up hill grade, with a good drop on the side of the road. Each time she tried to start it again, she would kill the engine and the buss would roll closer to the edge of the drop.
Finally one of the farm boys got up and took a look. He let out a few profanities and said you've got it in high gear. Down shift this ****** to low gear. She finally got it going.
Yes. My sister and I were the first pickup in the afternoon. I managed to cajole the driver into letting me drive to the first pickup (about a mile away - down a deserted unpaved road). Did it a couple of times. I was in 4th or 5th grade at the time. Dad had shown me how to drive stick pretty early.
Terminated sure obviously broke a few protocols but no legal charges. Innocent!
We have such little tolerance anymore...so many things that kids were allowed to do back in the 50-60's would get you arrested and or sued now...gosh I wonder how those raised in such a lawless and permissive society managed to survive to adult-hood w/o the EPA and FDA working to protect us...incredibly lucky I guess
no. but the one old guy we had as a substitute let us smoke I gave him a cigar every morning it was in the 7th grade
the stuff I saw and did in the 60s and 70s would land you in jail and on the front page today
folks are to anal retentive today
Not me, but I did have a bus driver that let a couple seniors drive. He also kept a pint of whiskey under his seat.
That was 1969 or 70.
Yeah, but in her defense, it was the short bus and most of the other riders were too busy licking the windows to notice.
What does this have to do with sex 36 years ago?
What could possibly go wrong? HH
No but me and a few buddies ran a train on a bus driver in the 90's if that counts.
yep counts! Probly against protocol but illegal? Innocent!
Sounds like a seminal moment. HH
What was his name? Was it Mr. Lewis?
We always thought that Mr. Lewis was a little light in the loafers. I'll bet it was Mr. Lewis. He had a lazy eye and a dead tooth didn't he? Yup. Mr. Lewis.
Didn't he die from the HIV? You might aughtta get tested.
Don't know when they stopped but I graduated in 1964. I was a bus driver for two years. First year, made $27 a month. Last year it was $31. Lucky me, I had a very short route, from home to school only took me about 30 minutes. Some drivers had to leave home at 5 AM. Up to then most all bus drivers were students. I think now some drivers are employed at other duties by the schools also.
If I remember right we had no more than one or two days training before being turned loose with a bus load of kids. All the buses were straight drives, and we had a lot of girls driving too. I enjoyed it, and even today, some of those former little kids tell me I was their hero. Aw, shucks.
