    They talked about "hydraulic mining."

I used to spend a lot of time in the Sierras. It's ugly country in some spots. Those spots where they used to implement hydraulic mining.

Funny the authenticity and historicity of some hollyweird movies.

    Yep, I saw it.
Kind of a slow movie for my tastes.

It ain't no Outlaw Josey Wales or High Plains Drifter!

The shootout at the end using the Remington conversion was classic.

I've always wondered in what way that "The Marshal" and "The Preacher" knew each other, previously.

We all presume that the Marshal was the one to put several holes through the Preacher, but, why??? When????
Was the Preacher one of the Marshal's deputies, and they had a dispute, where the Preacher was shot???

I'd kinda like to see a Prequel, to find out.

Has anyone here caught the huge firearms blooper in that movie?

(It's been a few years since I've seen it, pardon the rusty references)

In the scene in which the hired gun is standing on the deck of the saloon and telling the Irishman that he wants to "watch you dance" and starts firing his revolver at the ground by his feet...

...notice the type of revolver he's holding when viewed from the perspective of the Irishman, then notice the revolver from the over-the-shoulder perspective of the hired gun.

From one view it's a standard, loading lever equipped cap n' ball, and from the other perspective it's an ejector rod equipped cartridge conversion.

Noticed that the very first time I saw the movie.

Good flick. I've got a pair of conversion Remmies (reproduction, of course) just b'cuz of that movie. Shot my only clean SASS match with them. . . 8-9 years ago. LOL

Good questions. I just thought they knew each other by reputation only, but then after watching it several more times, I think there was more to their past together than meets the eye. I also had thought that if the preacher was a messenger from God, then maybe the Marshal was from down under.

Hydro-Fracking has been around for a long time. IIRC, some areas of NEW YORK CITY were hydro-fracked before they became city areas.....

Notice that the pattern of scars on the preacher matches the wounds he delivers to the marshal.

I thought the flashback in the middle of the film was the de'puh'deez shooting him in the back. WHY? We never knew.

What was a bit of a leap of plot line was that Stockburn "knows" its him as LaHood describes him. C'mon.

With the exception that the Preacher puts a final round directly through the Marshal's head to finish the job.
