Man, I love GT3s! Although I thoroughly enjoyed a top down al fresco 911 river cruise today among cliffs and rolling hills in a pack of other Porsches. Back when I went to pick up my new 911, this one was on the floor and within reach. For a moment, I feared that I had made the wrong choice.

This Porsche was also available, the most tasteful GT2 RS I've seen, but if I bought it, wifey would have had me committed for observation. ;)

The X2 is supposed to be sportier. It's lower and shorter.

Although I think the GTS is the sweet spot in the Macan lineup, the Turbo might be worth your attention.

I knew that, just didn't remember which box it descended from. Thanks.

$87K for a Macan isn't worth it. It is nice, but not any where near $87K nice.

After suggesting that the 2017 Forester had Macan like performance, I was curious too. This is what I found.

2017 SUBARU FORESTER 2.0XT TOURING TEST
"We tested a 2016 Subaru Forester with a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter engine delivering 170 hp. It ran from 0 to 60 mph in 8.7 seconds, or on the slower side of the competition. Equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine making 250 hp, our 2017 Forester tester did the deed in just 6.8 seconds. Essentially, it creamed four-cylinder competitors we've tested in the past few years including other models with similar power outputs such as the 2017 Ford Escape EcoBoost AWD, which clocked a time of 7.3 seconds, and the 2017 Kia Sportage SX Turbo AWD, which hit the mark in 8.1 seconds."

By 2019 it had slowed down a bit:
"At our test track, our Forester Touring test vehicle required 8.5 seconds to reach 60 mph—not exactly thrilling performance, but it'll meet the needs of most buyers. Those looking for more oomph should check out the Honda CR-V or the turbocharged versions of the Mazda CX-5 and the Kia Sportage. For an SUV without any sporting intentions, the Forester's handling is competent. The ride is compliant and refined, the steering is accurate, and the brakes are adequately strong for emergency stops."

Forgive me for being a three-digit IQ elitist, in your case, it was foolish of me to assume that you would make a post relevant to the discussion rather than engage in eight grade semantics. For you and you alone, I will concede that Subaru does make a car that is faster to 60 mph than a base Porsche Macan SUV.

As a track day instructor, can assure you Macans are not posers. They get it done.

Also, Subaru was smart enough to copy Porsche's boxer engine design

My pleasure, my friend. Cars and bikes (and well, jets) are my passion. Truthfully, the Subaru Forester was completely off my radar so it was good to learn about the Japanese SUV.

Performance includes more than just straight line acceleration and in case you didn't notice, those are cars not SUVs.
