Did top Republicans know Candidate Trump was being tapped?

UPDATE: Sources now indicating top Democrats and Republicans were aware of the surveillance (and potential subsequent leaks) being conducted on/against the Trump campaign. These include, but are not limited to, House Speaker Paul Ryan, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senator John McCain, and Senator Lindsey Graham.

My God, if this story is true then it makes what Nixon did during the Watergate scande look like the petty theft of a box of girlscout cookies. I'd long ago come to the conclusion that the movie "All The Presidents Men" should have been titled "Much Ado About Nothing" but damn!

What they may have not anticipated, is that now President Trump has control of the same tools they used against him.

Makes you wonder if the whole situation was so surreal, and that they were so sure he would not win, that they didn't consider that a problem.

Lots of legislators have "non-Profit" organizations that foreign governments give money to. Like McCain and his $1 million contribution from Saudi Arabia that he recently refused to talk about.

    Turnabout is fair play.

IF true, a whole lot of people should go to jail. That's a big "if".

Any real evidence that it is, other than conspiracy websites? Pretty serious accusations to be throwing around.

I would change the part I bolded to "nominal control".

I would be truly surprised if President Trump is able to make full use of these assets for many months. The Senate (including McConnell) is slow walking so many appointments that the same intelligence personnel used against Trump will be in place to sabotage much of his efforts.

This whole "wire tapping" story MAY prove hard to unravel. If the FISA court did give it's permission for an initial investigation, Trump will have to rely on the same people to essentially admit that they over stepped it's lawful scope. I hope Trump discovers the truth. It may take patience to get there.

There may be a civil war coming among the intelligence community.

The court's approved warrant was very narrow, and it appears the authority was stretched a bit wide in the execution. If so, the court will not be pleased.

You'd be surprised just how much control you can have when you invite the entire chain of command and the Inspector Generals for the IC to the White House, line them up outside the Oval office, Bring them in one at a time. Have a short discussion and decide if they are going to sign their resignation letter right now, or are they going to stay for the meeting. Those that are on board to follow legal orders can walk to the conference room on their own, those that aren't are escorted off the premises by the US Marines.

Might as well be TMZ. They write what they want to believe.

Probably were wiretaps. That everyone's list of top RINOs "knew" is flat out stupid.

I'd like to see a shred of evidence with regard to Russian hacking. Then--if it did occur--I would like to see a thorough report as to why the Democrat-administration-in-charge-at-the-time let it happen, and how long the prison sentences will be for each traitor involved.

    Later, we can discuss wiretaps.

Former Assistant US Attorney Andrew McCarthy has weighed in. This is going to get interesting. Note that The National Review has never been pro-Trump.
Nevertheless, whether done inside or outside the FISA process, it would be a scandal of Watergate dimension if a presidential administration sought to conduct, or did conduct, national-security surveillance against the presidential candidate of the opposition party. Unless there was some powerful evidence that the candidate was actually acting as an agent of a foreign power, such activity would amount to a pretextual use of national-security power for political purposes. That is the kind of abuse that led to Richard Nixon’s resignation in lieu of impeachment.

Why wait to discuss the spy business? It's gotta be the foremost of today's technology at it's best, or guess I should say worst.

It's gonna happen, at one level or another, especially in hard-line winner gets some power politics.

I say more power to Trump for not being undermined by what they learned.

Having his Attorney General go out and figuratively castrate himself in public is, in your considered opinion, "not being undermined"?
