If you retire from your LEO job in good standing and meet certain criteria, you can obtain a CCW good in all 50 states. One of the criteria is you have to qualify at least yearly.

Today I went and shot the FBI course at my old Police Department's range under the care of a current instructor. I grabbed the G20sf and shot lights out. 100 percent. My target had a fist sized hole in it upon completion. Just had to brag a little.

Congrats! Good to know the good guys are carrying after retiring. I am range master at my local office and have to qualify old timers from time to time. Our course of fire is ridiculously easy. One day I'll be the old codger shuffling in, tennis balls on the feet of my walker, telling the young bucks how much easier the patrol is these days, hoping to re-cert with my 40 year old Glock 29 that still looks new...

That is awesome!

Now, you're like a US Marshall, carry any where.
Can honestly say that I've worked with a few US Marshalls over the years and haven't run into an a--hole. Can't say the same for some of the other federal guys.

Also a quick story. Back in the mid to late 1800's my great, great, grandfather worked for the Army. During the Indian wars when there was an uprising in the Ogallalla, Ne area the current US Marshall would teletype the army asking my gggfather to form a posse and take care of the perps. He would then assume a roll as a Deputy US Marshall, find the offenders and hang them. He earned the knickname of Posse which followed him his entire life. End of story.

Yeah...age, isn't it great. There was a time when instead of the fist sized hole in the target it used to be a golf ball sized hole.

I might add that being active duty LE affords the same privilege. It's nice to be able to legally carry in LA, San Fransisco, road trips through many states etc. I recently packed a G30 on a trip to Detroit. Was walking the surface streets with my family as the sun went down. Never been happier to be armed in a place! The zombies really do come out at night. I felt like Wil Smith in Legion!

Here in Fla, if you moved here from another state most places charge between $65-$75 every year to get your 218. There are three departments that I know who do it free as a courtesy but only on certain dates during the year.

Some guys travel back to their original states on visits and get their 218 certs done then.

218 is a great thing, but L.E. should have been involved in drafting the bill and it could have been a bit more user friendly IMO.
