I'm halfway through Devil in the White City. It's about the 1893 Chicago World Fair. Pretty good read. The book does not have many pictures so you don't really get a good feel for the buildings that are discussed in it so I looked on the internet for pictures of the fair. I was able to find quite a few. Man, that would have been something to see. Do any of the buildings or landscapes survive today?

Devil in the White City was a very good read. It tells two (somewhat) interwoven stories, one about the World's Fair and the other about murderer H.H. Holmes.

While the story of Holmes and his house of horrors is interesting, I was most intrigued by the story of the World's Fair, which was truly a Herculean undertaking. The specs of the Ferris Wheel are amazing.

Good book, pick it up if you have the chance.

I own a copy of the book also. He was probably the world's 1st known serial killer.
