To quote the perp when he got tazed the second time: bbbbblblablblbbllabbllbbbllllubbabbblbub.
Perp was lucky he didn't get ventilated. Probably would've been a good shoot.
So, now, instead of a 72 hour Baker hold, he's probably looking at 20 years in prison.
Lot of bad ideas in that video. Literally, every decision the deputy made looked like it could serve as a bad example in a training video.
After addressing a deadly force threat with a Taser, you can always go "all in" by throwing your real gun on the ground near the suspect.
To be fair, I watched it with the sound off, like I usually do, so may he "said" something that made all of that make sense.
When someone deliberately refuses to show you (cop) their hand, or hands, there's almost always a reason they don't want to do so, and it likely won't be to your benefit. Watch their hands. The hands can kill you.
De-escalation doesn't have to mean giving someone extra opportunity to kill, maim or otherwise seriously injure you.
Yup. First rule of any encounter: WATCH THEIR HANDS. IT'S THE HANDS THAT KILL.
Meh, I would have preferred the officer kick him in the head a few times after he went down from the taser. Give him something to think about the next time he tries something like that, and more than likely there will be a next time.
He was mentally ill... c'mon, man!
Also, he's only alive because of luck.
Yeah, that's good police work. /sarcasm.
Too bad he wasn't over in Polk County.
See, this is why you first send in the sacrificial shrink to take the hit
I was showing my wife the video (actually I was showing her the tazer scene) and she stopped laughing for a second and said: "Wait.... did that cop just put his gun on the ground??".
I saw this video many times and I just don't understand why he did not say, "Show Me Your Hands", then make him go to his knees, then put on the cuffs! He was alone and very Lucky he is Alive! NO EXCUSE!
I know nothing, but crazy is going to surprise you once in a while.
I think the officer was overly sympathetic to this mentally ill kid and it could have got him killed.
Damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t.
Me, I would have shot him in the leg
Rather be lucky than good anyday. He did it his style and you can use your style. Not everyone has to kick the crap outta someone that is having mental problems to feel better about themselves. / not sarcasm
Now he’s really got something to be depressed about.
That WAS good reach and a VERY good stop by the Tazer.
The few times I have had to approach a LEO or they approach me for whatever reason, my hands are ALWAYS out and empty, and I never make any sudden moves.
God bless him and may he be granted a speedy recovery.
Maybe you missed the part where he got stabbed in the neck.
Yes, I am implying that your response was stupid.
No I didn't. He got far less upset than you are. He was a professional. Obviously something you couldnt be in the same situation. Now, start typing back your rude remarks. Im stupid, etc, etc.
I think you have made the point for me. I have been in the situation many times. I never got stabbed.
I dont know you, but im glad you didnt get stabbed.
