    Then what?
Hire Pinkerton, 90 year old guards?
Hire Amazon to drop ship a security guy/gal as needed.
Camden got rid of all their officers. Hired PR guys in uniform.

    What are your ideas?
    :)

They don't have a clue what they're doing.
They're just pandering to their black and white liberal constituents. Their heads are firmly shoved up their own *sses.
    They are idiots.
Nothing new. They're idiots on virtually every subject.

+1 for historical reference of "Pinkertons"... but even they wouldn't take this job. ;)

My idea is the Socialists are flirting w/ Anarchy. And that is what they are trying to do right now. Wreck the US to get Trump out. TDS to the extreme of destroying the US, and sacrificing peoples lives, just to win.

In CA a PD closes down and the County Sheriff takes over jurisdiction. Most notably Compton PD in 2000. Of course some cities got rid of their PDs and contracted out to the County Sheriff for less expenses.

Our community response is armed. They are paramedic trained as well. We pay them through the HOA

This is completely different than that; the stated goal here is not another policing agency providing services; the stated goal is NO POLICE AT ALL.

I think it's a great idea for a social experiment in Liberal-run cities since anyone with a brain can predict the outcome.

That is not what is going to happen and is not what is being discussed by anyone other than the severely misinformed and those who are trying their hardest to misinform them.

The Camden NJ model, for better or worse, is what is being proposed by those not discussing the issue on social media and on the streets.

    According to the Minneapolis council members giving interviews, thats exactly what they say they want; no more cops, but rather "community safety teams" and social workers; their words;

I have yet to hear anyone in power there saying they want to contract police services with another police agency, so no, the Camden model is not what they are saying they want...

They are politicians, they are lying to their constituents and telling them what they want to hear. Anyone, on either side, who thinks a major city will not have a fully staffed and armed law enforcement agency is not having an adult conversation. They are either misinformed, trying to misinform others or ranting emotionally.

The MPD may go away, but the city will always have cops of one form or another patrolling its streets.

Well , since they are the ones running the city , until we see differently we can only take them at their word for now.

And their words are that they don't want law enforcement in any form that we would recognize as such...

    The tide has started ...

As of a couple of days ago (so numbers may have increased), reportedly 14 MPD offers quit and 46 are taking early retirement.

The Anoka County Sheriff doesn't appear inclined to respond for assistance going forward if the city chooses to eliminate their police dept.

“If they choose to eliminate their police department through defunding operations without a realistic plan, they must also choose to live with the consequences of their decisions. We are one of many agencies who have no appetite for going back to their city to restore order again; especially if their decision is to actively compromise the safety of the city,” said Stuart in the Facebook post."

There is no need to take them at their word when the laws they must follow or change are on the books. They need all 13 votes plus the Mayor to change the City Charter which mandates a police force equal to .17% of the cities population.

Some of these politicians are at least partially caving into Antifa and BLM and the DNC approved plans , not by totally disbanding the police, but just cutting their funding and spending the money on "community programs".

This is like in time of war you have a unit pinned down by the enemy and calling for reinforcements and additional supplies and HQ refuses and diverts men and materials to an area where no battle is taking place.

I'm not making this up as a hypothetical and this isn't something politicians are just "Talking about". It's already happening in major cities nation-wide. I used to live in L.A. but I got out of there about 20 years ago when I saw the way things were going with a bunch of ****-for-brains Leftist running the show, but in the city where I moved to, the police were already under-funded and what the ****-for -brains Left-leaning city council did was to make property crime a lower priority to take some of the burden off of the police.

Now here's what's happening in L.A. and across the nation. It's not completely de-activating the police, it's just under-funding the police which will only be half as bad.

LA Mayor Slashes LAPD Budget As Calls To ‘Defund Police’ Slowly Pick Up Steam
Jack Brewster Forbes Jun 4, 2020, 11:18am EDT

On Wednesday, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced he is throwing out plans for a massive police budget hike as support for slashing police department funds grows among activists in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

As protests continue across the country, some activists are calling to “defund police” and redirect those funds to other areas such as education and health care, arguing police reform is not enough.

Black Lives Matter and a coalition of more than 100 other black rights organizations launched an open letter this week calling on citizens to sign a petition to demand local officials decrease funding for police departments and redirect funds to “spending on health care, education and community programs.”Some politicians are listening: the Los Angeles Police Department was set to receive a large increase in its annual budget from $1.189 billion last year to $1.86 billion (most of the budget increases were for new police bonuses) for 2020-2021 before Garcetti axed that move Wednesday, cutting $100-$150 million — only after activists rallied outside of his home.
