Thank you, zealots. It appears you really do have an effect on debate and raising awareness. What's next on your political agenda?

The anti-gun powers that be will use any excuse, go to any length, to inhibit gun rights. Anti-gunners can be, and are, very patient in their struggle. Of course the elimination of legal ownership of firearms is their goal and they understand that the only way to get it done is incrementally.

This is one of those increments.

That is why the are called Progressives, they are changing this country progressively. One step at a time. But then what did they expect from Gov. Moonbeam?

Uh, most states that don't have OC at least have CCW. California now has neither.

Unfortunately, most Californians didn't have a choice other than OC if a firearm was to be carried at all. The choices were:

1. Get a California CCW permit, which is nearly impossible in most areas of CA.

2. Carry unloaded OC, with loaded magazines. (Which was legal by anyone in any area)

3. Go without a firearm.

I will agree that calling attention to OC in California wasn't going to work out in 2A's favor - especially under Gov. Brown.

In CA, it was really a lose/lose situation.

Whew, those poor californiastanians...... The horrors, I know I'd die of a heart attack if open carry were permitted here in Texas in the public with handguns..... I usually have a nervous breakdown each time I'm at the gun range:crying:

<----Pro open carry, anti large crowd gathering at Starbucks or In and Out Burger for the purpose of "educating" and "familiarizing" the general public on open carry. It doesn't work.

Agree. Exercising your rights is one thing; shoving them down peoples' throats is quite another.

I know this is not popular opinion but OC and the antics the OC guys with cameras and youtube videos helped the control cause.
I agree. Regardless of perfectly sound arguments made by members on a gun forum, the general public really doesn't like moderately ******y guys with guns being confrontational and unpleasant with police while armed.

I don't like it either.

Condolences to those open carriers who were respectful, polite, and calm. Didn't see a whole lot behaving that way on YouTube and news sites.

I will get 3-5 replies to this post talking about how if people are uncomfortable they can deal with it. That is utopian. It is not the real world. In this real world, when people are uncomfortable they call their legislator.

Open carry had the potential to help the Second Amendment cause.

Overly hyper, tin-foil-hatted open carriers who yelled at cops and wouldn't hand over a freakin' ID like you have to do to get a coffee these days (you do realize the government has all that info already) tangibly and substantially caused harm to the Second Amendment, legally to some extent and in public opinion to a huge extent.
