Last night I had to make a difficult decision; stay at home and do a few hours of casting or go down to the Stampede Dance Emporium for a few hours of two-steppin' and to enter the Halloween costume contest.

I can cast anytime, (indoors, don't ya know), so I sat down to give serious thought to my costume and set out for the yearly competition.

I am sad to announce that out of the three-hundred or so contestants I was only able to finish in second place but I probably spent less on my costume than anyone else.

I wrapped a length of string around an Idaho baking potato then tied it to Mr. Johnson and went as a Dictator.

First place went to a woman who two and a half years ago used to be a man. She/he explained that perhaps she/he to Obama's message of change a bit too literally.

Perhaps I should have stayed home with the casting furnace... it's going to take a long time to get that image out of my mind. :scared:

A big thank you for not posting any photos of the first or second place winners.

My wife grew up in the hills of southern Kentucky where kindly folks refer to people like Jack as “special”.
