I have one and I put an Aimpoint on it 3 years ago. With all the body armor on Messikans in my area I'm going to get this gun ready. I like the basic SOCOM16 as it is still lite. I'm going to replace the Aimpoint with a MeOpta K-Dot by getting a Sadlak mount like I have on my N M. I'm keeping h stock the same as I can give a nice Vertical buttstroke with it.
I'll have a ready mag of AP with an API as the last round.

My buddy has a SOCOM II, which I shot the hell out of last week. I love SA's rifles.

    I don't believe you can buy 7.62 X 51 AP or API.Otherwise,good plan.I love my Socom 16.

I have been contemplating a short 7.62 for 3 gun and HD. With 5.56 so pricey it makes sense to step up to more power with similar price.

I've had a SOCOM for the past few years, and really like it. I haven't shot it much of late, but it's a lot of fun. Not particularly practical, but a lot of fun.

A 18" scout is more practical, and also fun. In the case of the SOCOM, it was more of an itch that needed scratching.

Purchase AP and API at ammunition to go. But you are correct Ball M-80 is fine. Here is a pic of the new Sadlok Airborne mount. I had a good talk with Mike Sadlak discussing what I wanted to make and my purpose for it. This will be a very maneuverable M-14 variant that I can still use a Verticle Buttstroke with. I plan to show this to BP and DOJ buddies so they can request like firearms.

What part of the SW are you in? I've got a bunch of once-fired .308 and a couple M14 stocks I'd like to give away to an M14 owner.
