I never saw it before. Gee I never knew a resident of Evanston IL. , a anti-gun suburb with an assault rifle ban, like DR. Kersey could walk into a gun store and buy a fully auto long rifle like that. "Actually no gun store in the state would even sell you a rifle like that if you lives in a city or town with such a ban let alone a full auto one". The cops would have maybe pinched him for possessing it even if the shoot was good.

But now the entire world knows its that easy. I suppose at least they didn't show him mail ordering it on "over night" Fed Ex from Jolly Rodgers guns in Hogsville Indiana.

This is the one factual issue that bothered you in this movie?

    Disappointing movie.

The full-auto weapons were a disappointment as well, clearly intended to fuel the full-semi-auto-assault-weapon Hollywood craze.

I like Bruce Willis but this movie wasn’t all that great.

The chick version with Jennifer Garner is much more entertaining. Peppermint is the name of the flick.

Will check it out. The other death wish have been pistol, semi auto, another guys war brought back full auto, and IIRC drug lords connections to assult weapons.

Oh, sorry. From the title, I thought this was a thread about the Democrats' campaign strategy for the Midterms.

The original Paul Kersey started with a nice .32 Long Colt Police Positive.

Let me guess: once again, a left-wing anti-gun celebrity says we don't need guns to protect ourselves, then stars in a movie as a gun-toting vigilante avenging the deaths of her family who were murdered because they were unarmed and defenseless.

The first couple of Death Wish movies were enjoyable to watch and they actually provided a warning about where we were headed in terms of an out of control criminal element in the cities. Unfortunately we ignored the warning part and the problem is now beyond any possible way to deal with it. Also I figured the remake would not be up to the original.

    They’re “actors”.

Just like Kelsey Gramer guy who’s a conservative but played lefty characters before.

Or John Wayne who played war heroes but never served.

Garner played in Bible Thumper movies as well but I never heard any outrage from conservatives either.

Nobody is arguing that they are pretending to really be what they play in the movies - you seem to have missed the point. The only claim is that they complain about gun violence while glorifying gun violence for entertainment and profit.

Ayup. And if you knew the people in Evanston it would make you howl to.

But yes overall it was a pretty stupid movie. The original was much better.

I just finished watching a Death Wish marathon when this thread showed up. Holy crap what awful movies. Not the idea in them, which is good, but literally everything else.

I wonder if sometimes directors try to make movies so bad they become good. I doubt they were angling for an academy award here, but I'd be curious to know if they actually thought the movie was decent at the time they made it.

This is the famous Golan/Globus team at work here, which you probably need to be a certain age to understand, but it fits their style for sure.

My favorite was in DW3, where the old vet guy had a pair of browning m1919's in his dresser. One looked like a Kraut MG machine gun but I couldn't tell for sure.

    Exactly.

Every time an AR is used in a movie or on TV, it's full auto. Doesn't matter if it's in the hands of military, police, or civilians, it's full auto every single time.

I honestly believe this is why so many anti-gunners have conniptions over black rifles. They have no firsthand experience with these rifles, everything they "know" about them is what they see in the movies and on TV. And what they see are full auto "machine guns."
