    This is getting to be a nightmare. I have a doublewide home on a concrete slab foundation. My heat ducts are under the floor. Every time the heat kicks on I smell death. I checked the ducts with a mirror and light as far as I could see. I can't find the carcass. I'm not going under the house in somethingteen temps to tear up under the house. Is there a chemical I can use or a way to snake out the vents? It happened last winter but I was able to find it. This crap doesn't happen when we run the pellet stove. Too bad I'm out of wood pellets. :steamed:

    Is you home gas or electric?

    You can also hit up your local Rent-All or similar place and see if they rent out push camera systems.

    That thing is awesome. It's actually a home heating oil system. Most of the ductwork is on a level plane but there are a couple vertical drops with elbows. That's where I found the last one. It had dropped down vertical and couldn't crawl it's way back up.

    It won't be that cold in your crawl space. Do what you've got to do. Me, I'd be looking for where they were getting in and putting a stop to that.

    Or, just ignore it. In a little time it will go away.

    Call a Plumber..

    Some have cameras that they snake down pipes.. they can run that down your ducts and find the carcass..

    Good luck..

    Hello;

    Get some flex able wire (14g fence wire), make a ball out of some duct tape, spear it and go fishing.

    Seriously, if I didn't want to pay for duct cleaning, I would run an electrician's fishtape through to the last possible vent, and pull an old throw pillow back through- you might get lucky.

    If that fails, then I would send in the dead cat.

    Build a little ladder and install it in that drop off so they can climb out and not get stuck.
