I used to be on a few different popular dating sites a couple of years ago. Even though I've deleted my profile and am no longer active, I occasionally get click-bait emails trying to lure me back.

Today, I get this from OKCupid.com:

At OkCupid, we believe that judging others based on their sex, religion, country of origin, or orientation is un-American. There is no room for intolerance.

Instead, we’ve celebrated individuality in all its various forms since we were founded. Our users live in 214 countries around the world. They identify as 22 genders and 13 orientations. They are Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Sikhs, Atheists, Buddhists and Agnostics.

We strongly believe that America’s history of welcoming others not only represents the best of American values, but it also defines the core of what has made our country the great place it is, and has been. Love, not hate, is the solution.

OkCupid is open to all individuals. Thanks for making OkCupid a welcoming place.

Apparently, this business is another that feels it is in their best interest to make a statement that shows their ideological and political opposition to the new Trump administration.

Like Starbucks, I don't believe they would be doing this unless they have research that shows a large majority of customers believe the same things they do.

Do you believe they are interpreting their market research data correctly? Or are they simply falling for the same disillusionment that the media fell for and is leading to their free fall into illegitimacy?

Corporate America is tripping over itself trying to prove how tolerant they are of the backwards culture of Islam.

majority of their userbase is probably people who would never connect with a person they werent fixed up with, due to various backwards or retarded social graces.

probably tracks with their client base. those selfsame people are pretty vocal until they are put on the spot for something.

this one, i am not surprised about.

Get with the times. I had to revamp my Tinder profile a bit, like mentioning social justice, for the visitors coming to the Women's March in DC, but I can certainly pretend to be a democrat for an evening. Priorities.

You mean sites that charge people hundreds of dollars a year to interact with mostly fake accounts?

22 genders? OK, I am seriously not keeping up. How did we get to 22 genders?

its make believe. there are only two. i could see a case being made for "neither" as a valid option when you end up with a surgically butchered body like the caitlyn jenner experiment, but thats stillonly three.

While I agree they're making a statement, I think it might be a little sensitive of you to see it as a 'protest'.
I don't know how to properly phrase a "Hey man, check yourself" without coming off condescending... but I'm trying something new.

Their disagreement with Trump on this particular issue
You're taking that and saying they have an "ideological and political opposition to the new Trump administration."
The entire administration? Everything Trump wants to do?
You just boiled Trump down to his stance on immigration. That this is all he is. All he stands for, is trying to accomplish.
I'm usually odd man out here, and I'm giving it a shot at explaining how things look without sounding insulting so it's coming off really clumsy, but can you see what you're saying?

    (Another angle)
I guess if it's your belief that Trumps particular stance on immigration defines or personifies him and his administration then, yes, it would appear they oppose him and his administration.
I don't think that. I think there is more to him and his people than just this one issue and that OKCupid just disagrees with him on immigration.

No joke, I can think of 5, maybe 6, all based off of inny- outy and variations of that (cut off or stitch on). 22? These people spend too much of their time figuring out what makes them different from everyone else. That's why everyone laughs at them, there're pathetic children...

A cut & stitch project doesn't make a new gender, it just combines elements of the original 2. And it really doesn't change the initial gender.

Just another business trying to say that they welcome anyone, in an attempt to get more money, however they gain it.

They are beating the bushes for new customers.

Dating sites are a joke. My daughter has tried a few. Guys treat them like escort services.

She has been berated because she said she would date other races.

They are sometimes free for girls and only guys pay a fee so she has met guys who expect her to pay for the date and even pay them for taking her.

She won't talk about it but I heard from her friend that she was kicked off of one large site. Too many complaints because she won't screw the guys. Most of them were only one date.

A friend got divorced in his 40s and tried a few. Found out that there tons of "Married But Looking" on them, both men and women. They want something lined up before they file for divorce.

I think there is a bigger assumption of tolerance and rainbows than there is in reality.

Most Americans don't want Islamic terrorists living next to them. Trump is taking the heat, but hopefully will keep winning the votes :)

I wonder if that's the first time an up-stater tried to trump an NYC native on the total number of genders. Maybe we should decide the issue with a triple plate rack shoot-off. Oh wait, that's not legal for you. :p

According to this site the planet has 196 countries:

    http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0932875.html

    OKCupid claims members from 214.
If they got that wrong, all their stats could be made up. But, who really cares about these leftists? Pathetic and pandering.

To play devils advocate, even if we count the ones who used to have some plumbing and had other plumbing installed to replace the original plumbing, as a different gender, how do they get to 22?? And even if after the plumbing some go one way and others go the other way I am still confused at 22. And what are the 13 orientations? That seems kind of low if they have 22 different genders. This is some math that I probably will not understand even if someone explains it to me.
