I am very pleased and excited to present to all of you, pictures of my very own BlackBob. It started out as a 2009 DW Commander Classic Bobtail .45ACP, and along the way I added slim bushings and VZ Double Diamond G10 (Black Desert Sand) grips; and had my local smith add an Ed Brown stainless tactical ambi safety. For this latest edition, I sent it to Dave Severns of Severns Custom, where he installed a Grieder Precision medium shoe length solid match trigger, flush cut and target crowned the barrel, and finished the whole pistol with Hard Hat Treatment. When I received the pistol back today from my friendly FedEx driver, I opened it, stripped, cleaned, lubed, and re-assembled. For an initial reaction I am very pleased with the Hard Hat Treatment. It appears very uniform and consistent throughout the entire pistol inside and out. I have heard very good things about it from a durability and wear resistance standpoint and I hope that holds true for me as well. While I like the Cerakote on my Valor and CCO - a nice deep flat black, it's still a coating, and one corner of my CCO has already begun to wear from holster use. Likewise, the Hard Hat is a metal treatment, not a coating, so to some extend the brushed finish of the stainless is still visible (mind you it's all completely black-black, just the brushed look is still somewhat there). But this is fine with me - that's what the gun looked like brand new, it looks exactly the same - except in a beautiful flat matte deep black color. I really like the feel and look of the Grieder solid medium trigger as well, as to be expected the install done by Dave is perfect. The barrel flush cut and target crown was a last minute addition, but definitely one that I'm glad I did. I absolutely love the way this looks. Now - on to the pictures of the new BlackBob, and some pictures of it with my Valor and CCO. Enjoy!
