I was looking at a Dan Wesson 1911 tonight so anyone out there have any experience with them? Are they worth it? Quality good? Right now i have a few Kimbers, colts , springfields.

    I think they're very good 1911s.

That said, I'd sooner buy a Les Baer for the price of some of them.

My father-in-law has had a bobtail for quite some time. It's a great gun. He has a couple of Kimbers and prefers the DW to both.

I agree. I just picked up a used CBOB for a good price, and it looks like it's been shot very little. I don't think I'd get a new Dan Wesson right now, though. The new Valors around me are +/- $1600 and that's close enough to push me towards a Premier II.

I haven't shot my CBOB yet, but it is the first 1911 I've had that requires a bushing wrench. It's built very tight. The only thing I'm not wild about is that there are visible tool marks on the barrel bushing.

I guess my comments boil down to, if you can find a good used Dan Wesson for a good price, go for it. A new one? They are still great guns, but I think there are better options for only a little more money (if that even).

I'm not real big on the new DW pricing.

It seems like years ago, pre-CZ, CBOBs could be easily found in the $900 range. They sure are beautiful pistols IMO.

Dan Wessons are better than Les Baers these days. I know I read it on the errornet.

The one I got to shoot recently was a Heritage. I fell in love with it immediately; felt better than any 1911 I have ever used, although I have only fired about a half dozen or so. At 10 yards I made a one inch hole without really trying.

I picked up a CBOB that was a mfgr's rep demo gun. Excellent value. Great gun. It's a keeper. I doubt I could get the same deal today, but two years ago, it was amazing.

    Do it.

Didn't know you can get a Les Baer for the same amount of money but I love the stainless VBOB that I have and have no regrets.

I have a SS Valor I got off GB for $1,350 delivered, fantastic gun, super accurate and runs 100%. One of the best looking 1911s out there, IMHO.

I own the Dan Wesson CCO. Great gun - wouldn't trade it. :)
