Dallas police are on the scene of a multiple shooting at North Dallas office tower.

Early reports indicated that more than one person, including a suspected gunman, had been hit.

Dallas police and multiple ambulances were dispatched to the tower, at 12222 Merit Drive, not far from Medical City Dallas.

Jeremy Roberts, a Carrollton firefighter, said he rushed to the building after hearing from a friend who works for an insurance company in the building.

"She was a little nervous. She didn't know what was going on," he said. His friend hid in a locked room until police arrived a few moments later, he said. The police told her they had the gunman.

Marcella Cavazos, a lawyer who works on the fourth floor of the building, said she heard five to six shots just before 11 a.m.

She said it sounded like the shots had come from the floor below – a floor largely occupied by lawyers' and doctors' offices.

"We just heard the shots, and security told us not to leave," she said.

Dallas police in yellow rain slickers were later seen standing guard at entrances to the building.

WFAA-TV (Channel 8) reported that three people, including a suspected gunman, were shot.

At least some of the wounded were being transported by ambulance. They were believed to be en route to Baylor University Medical Center.
