I know I’m in a little early for Father's Day, so I’ll just post this as pride and respect.

Dad and nephews just finished up baling 700 bales of alfalfa hay. Dad officially retired last year at 84, but he just won’t quit.

He’s the true, unglossed, real picture of American agriculture.

    Semper Fi, Dad.

I raise my glass to you and your family!

Farmers are some of the most honest and honorable people I have ever met.

    Hats off to the man!
You are fortunate to still have him. What I wouldn't give for an hour with mine.
But it won't happen to I get to the hereafter with him.

Your dads got a few years on me, but not that many. Sounds like he's not ready for that old rocking chair yet. Neither am I.

I put up 5 acres of Orchard grass and clover today. Five more acres to do tomorrow. Something about making hay while the sun shines.

It sounds like your dad has found the same thing I have, hard work keeps you feeling young. Spend as much time with him as you can.

Good man. I wonder about the future of family farms and hope they survive. I don't wish to see large corporations running ever more of our needs.

Weather and financial vagaries wreak havoc on farmers. Can be a tough and not very financially rewarding business. Don

I love the smell of fresh mowed hay. I miss the days on the farm and putting up hay. I even hauled for a hay crew during my youth for 2-cents a bail.
That was the small rectangle ones of course.

My dad is 84 and it is getting time to talk to him about staying off the tractors.

Driving the vehicles are fine, but he has had a couple of minor incidents with the tractors that could have been worse. I don't want there to be a bigger oops.

    That was very moving.......thank you.

Spending life on the farm is a rare opportunity. Every job I've ever had is just a "town job", meaning that it always comes secondary to the needs of farm and family.

It has not been an easy life. Nor a rich one.

    But has been fulfilling.

    And I am thankful.
