Recently changed a few parts on my 2011 model 1911. I used a variety of manufacturers such as Wilson Combat, EGW, Fusion, and Smith & Alexander. I replaced the mainspring housing, replaced thumb safety with an extended one, replaced the slide lock, guide rod with a one piece full length, hammer strut, sear spring, beaver tail grip safety, and trigger (already done in the "before" pics). I also flush cut the pin on the slide lock and recessed the hole (looked like a wart on the side of the frame). Bead blasted the frame and external parts, to give a two-tone kind of look. I also polished the internals to smooth it up a bit. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out for my first time of doing such a thing.

ETA: Pardon the dust. I didn't notice it til after I uploaded the pics.

Nice work! Excellent base to start from. All of my SA guns were nice right out of the box. I can only imagine what they'd be like after some upgrades like you've done.

I have always like the SA mil-spec. Has a nice, no-nonsense, kinda of look.

Thanks guys! It actually looks better in person. After I finished the pistol, I ran several magazines thru it for a function test, and it ran perfect.

Fun project. Especially when the gun still works after you are done with it.

You have no idea how worried I was that I was going to screw it up!
There is Youtuber called MosinVirus with some great videos on 1911 builds. I probably couldn't have done it if not for his vids.

    NICE!!

    Great job!

I’ve been wanting to do that to my full size Colt NRM for a while now. I think I’d go with a Round Commandrr hammer though. I really like that look. I just don’t know what grip safety to use and then I might be getting in over my head.

Yours looks awesome though. I wouldn’t mind having one just like it!!
