I usually carry a G23. As most of you know, that gives me 13 +1 rounds of 40. I was just curious as to how many rounds/mags others feel comfortable carrying and why.

    Thanks everyone!

You read my mind. I was just going through this today trying to decide how many I should carry. I just picked up a G26 myself so I get a few less than you do.

I just started carrying a Gen 4 23, and settled on 1 backup mag. I went with a G22 mag for my backup though. I figure it's about the same size, and gives me 2 extra rounds. If I am reloading, it seems logical 2 extra rounds might come in handy.....

I usually carry a G19 with 15+1 and a spare G17 mag with 16 rnds.... if I need more I should probably be carrying an AR platform. If I need to carry an AR I shouldn't have gone out the door in the first place!

I only 'usually' carry spare mags in the truck when on a trip.
I do not shoot the .40 cal, have had plenty of them, but I have always carried a 45acp. I am comfortable with 7. Like I said, if on the road, especially here in W. Texas, I do carry spare mags. I guess where I live there is no need to worry about havin your jeans stuffed with mags.

Even if I lived in a huge city, I cannot see but maybe one mag "fo me' that is since there is six to a mag. I would think in your high cap you should have all you need with out a refill in your pocket, but I would suggest on in the car/truck..

I always carry twin mags, or speed loaders, with my handguns.
    Often carry two guns actually.

Always 2 spares in the truck, sometimes 2 on me. Comforting trumps comfortable.

I carry one 13-rnd spare mag in a belt pouch for the G30SF 45ACP loaded 10+1 (24 rnds total). Having a spare mag is important in case of a malfunction requiring a reload, besides the added ammo capacity it provides, of course. There is a loaded 30-rnd mag stowed in our vehicles for backup.

If I carry the G19 I carry two spare G17 mags. If I carry the G26 I carry two spare G19mags. If I carry the G30 I carry two spare G21 mags.

Some clearance drills for failures to feed involve droping the mag that is in the gun. Nice to have a replacement on the belt should that happen at a less than ideal time.

Me too. Never been able to carry one comfortably. I carry a gen 4 g32. I'm hopeful for no failures and 14rds of 357sig is adequate.
