How is it possible that I've never in my life heard of anyone in my family circle or social circle who died of the flu? Never recall hearing of a celebrity either.

A lady from my church died from the flu in January. 61 or so.
I’ll never forget the pain I saw in her husbands eyes.

Because that means in the last 15 months one out of every 3,473 people in the US died from the flu and I'm guessing you don't have nearly that many people in your family/social circle, and even if you did …...

There was an elderly married couple who lived right nextdoor to me. They both died from the flu on the same day in 2012. They were good people. I miss them.

I really wonder how they track all this stuff, I know an old guy that was getting a surgery that could kill him if he did not get up and get moving afterwards. He didn't and he died. Think it may have been categorized as P&I since I think it was pneumonia that got him. Those deaths don't count though, only certain groups at certain times when the news media deems it exciting. I know 3 otherwise healthy young males that went to bed with a cold and woke up dead. It happens, it can happen to you, or you could get run over by a car, or shot by a jealous husband. Only one thing is certain, you will die.

That is soooo sad. And also way to young to die. My wife is in her sixties, works in a very large grocery store. She called to tell me before she left work the other day to tell me that they hauled a couple other co-workers out in an ambulance. Test`s came back positive for Covid-19. My wife is a very tough woman, but she broke down crying when she got home... saying that this is just to close to home. Now, if she gets sick at work, brings it home to me... yeah, that would not please me. When i asked her what her employer is doing to keep their workers safe, she said, nothing. When she questioned her supervisors in a closed meeting, they told her if she had a problem with working there, to just go home and file for unemployment. If i were not disabled, depending on what little income i get, and my wife paying alotta bills for both of us, i would make her quit that job in a heartbeat. As they say; stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Prayer to that friend of yours in your church

I've never known anyone that's died in a car wreck. So what?

There was a kid who died of the flu in the city I worked for a few years back. I think he was a twin. Doing fine one minute, dead the next.

Well, I've been hearing of a few people who have been dying from this new flu, among both my social circle and within my wife's.

The people I've learned about having died from other flu seasons were generally considered to have died from complications, or having been in higher risk groups in general.

So there was about 3,000 deaths per month from the flu last year. People were still running around and going on with life.

So far, there's 10,000 deaths from Covid-19. Let's go with 3 months it's been out and we've been self quarantined for the last month. Imagine if we all just went on with life. How many more people would die then? You can look at Italy to see how bad it could be if we didn't shutdown.

Im sorry to hear of you and your wife, Intolerant. I hope she stays health and strong, and I wish the same for you.

That’s what’s so tough about this one, is that you just don’t know where it’ll hit. Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of England is currently in intensive care over there. Keep in mind that the odds are far and away in your favor, even at an increased risk.

    Prayers, brother.

You would think that people who have been around here for years would remember her. But how quickly they forget. It’s a damn shame.
