MIAMI - The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a cruise ship passenger who government officials say jumped overboard in the Bahamas.

The Coast Guard says crew members aboard Royal Caribbean's Monarch of the Seas reported Neha Chhikara missing Thursday afternoon as the ship was headed from Nassau to CocoCay.

Royal Caribbean spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez says the guest was reported missing by her husband. Security camera footage showed the 23-year-old woman going overboard from the 11th deck early that morning.

Martinez said Friday that Bahamian government officials reviewed the footage and determined that the woman jumped overboard.

The ship left Port Canaveral, Fla., on Monday for a five-day cruise through the Bahamas. It's due to return Saturday.

When I took that cruise, I didn't feel like jumping overboard until AFTER the stop at CoCoCay. Maybe someone warned her about it. Eric

Happens all of the time. Some by accidents and others being stupid. Hope they find her in one piece, probably not, sharks are plentiful in these waters.

We went to Freeport first, which I thought sucked! Fortunately, Nassau was a bit more fun. I still preferred life onboard the ship.

I sure didn't want to jump off the damned thing! I was screaming to get back on while we were in Freeport!

For a lot of people, suicide is never far from their thoughts.
