I do watch the NFL and the NBA. Here’s why. I really like NCAA basketball and football. When a guy from one of my favorite college teams makes the big time, I like to follow him for a couple of years. I long ago realized that entertainers (and I consider pro athletes to be entertainers), are more vocal now. They need to quit using their athletic position as a means to promote politics. Then and only then might the NFL and NBA gain a tiny bit of respect and resume a bit of normalcy.

I stopped watching the National Felons League three seasons ago and don’t intend to ever watch them again! Any sport playing the “Black National Anthem “ and/or sporting BLM on their uniforms or on the field is dead to me. I watch sports to be entertained, not to listen to racist millionaires whine about Social injustices, if they feel the desperate need to make themselves look like low life idiots, then they should do it on their on time anD not **** up a sporting event. I hope to hell they all go bankrupt.

Believe it or not, Actually, the only "entertainment" that has come close to generating the same "experience" is professional wrestling. They've got fans on webcams displayed on signage boards with Real fan audio. The other "sports" that are coming close to matching the traditional experience is boxing, UFC and NASCAR. All the rest are basically Hocus Pocus and ala-ka-blam!
Did you see Korean Zombie choke last weekend?

In the hype vid before the fight, he said that he fights for the crowd appreciation -- that it's the applause that motivates him.

Then, in his first crowdless fight, he couldn't get his striking off. That is never a problem with him.

I thought it was sad; the guys who need to have an audience are going to fade away. I wonder if that's what happened with Tony.

Yeah, a bunch of the UFC's went only a round or two. We also stream Top Rank.

I make comments without reading the entire thread.

I turned on the TV the other day and it happened to be on a channel with a football game on. I saw the empty stands and heard the crowd noise dubbed in. It was so plastic and fake, it was kinda like pro wrestling.

Pro wrestling admits what it is. The ball sports pretend they are different.

I’m watching wheel of fortune right now, and there’s clapping through the whole show.
Wonder how long the average person cheering and clapping has been dead in these audio enhancement sounds.

Okay so, is anyone else *watching SNF and listening to the GHOST CROWD cheering?
I mean, it's an empty stadium...
Sorry NFL - just too dumb - it's like having a comedy show with a "laugh Track"...wait...

*Just watching 'cause it's my job....
Pretty soon construction workers will be playing taped catcalls at passersby during lunchbreak.

Drug corners will have a loudspeaker that goes, "Yo! Yo, man, over here!! Yo!!"

911 calls will be answered by a recording (oh wait, that's already the case).

And shooting ranges will play the sounds of gunfire as their members dry fire and dream about the box of ammo they are saving up for.

Do you guys remember American Gladiators?

I used to laugh because they had cardboard cutouts of fans way back then.

Now these yahoos are doing it, too funny. What's old is new.

Are the faux fan cheers really on the loud speakers in the stadium or are they just dubbed behind the blathering of the color men?
And since there is no one in the stands to show off to, do they still prance about and dance to celebrate scoring?
I have not watched a football game since 2008. Really I hate football, slow dull and boring. That is NOT my idea of entertainment.

They need to "pipe in" the noise, just to drown out the whining of the pampered millionaires, complaining how unfair life is.

It is part of the television production. It is done for two reasons, makes the broadcasts sound "normal" and it covers adult language that may emanate from the field and be picked up by the broadcast.

I agree that football is boring, but that's because I didn't play and so I don't understand what I'm seeing.

What sport is better to watch? Do you watch fights? I've found that even some sports haters (such as myself) can get into watching fights.

Side note: I think it's incredible that our culture has changed to the point where it is perfectly acceptable to say, "watching ballsports is boring."

When I was growing up, that would have got you labeled as an unpleasant freak. Now it's normal. Kind of a relief for me -- now I can skip the game without guilt.
