Great stuff, thanks for taking the time to post this, changes my viewpoint on what "reusable" means when it comes to brass.

This needs to be a "STICKY" because it is too important to be burried in the threads...

I bought a new Glock20 and a box of 180gr Armscor fmj ammo and after firing 10 rds 6 have the smile and nothing on 4. I also bought some Sig 180gr fmj and shot 10 round with no smile. Is this just a case of BAD brass from Armscor? I have seen this in 40S&W but never paid much attention to it because I have so much of it.
Thanks
Terry

Armscor brass isn't as good as others but it is more because of the powder they are using. They are using too fast a powder for the weight bullet that they are trying to shove too fast! That expands the casing too fast and exceeds the brass metallurgy in use. The last Armscor 180 pull down I did showed Tight Group 6.4 grains.
What spring rate are you running?

What ever came in the 20 gen 4, it is stock and new with 20 rounds thru it.

Sig's ammo is much better in my opinion and probably why you didn't see the SMILE issues. You could try other ammo or a different recoil spring setup to see if it helps some.
I run non captive Wolff recoil rod and 22 lbs springs in my G-20SF.

I could not open the pictures. Some problem with the hosting website. Can someone repost in .jpg format? Thanks.

I cut open a couple pieces of brass that bulged in my Lone Wolf barrel, to see where the bulge happened relative to the web of the case. This is a newer barrel, bought in December 2011. I thought the picture was interesting enough to post here.

This is a 40 S&W case, didn't have any bulged 10mm handy, but the internal dimensions on the 10 and 40 are pretty much the same other than the primer pocket.

I could not open the picture on photobucket. Can you resend it with a .jpg picture?

I motion that this sticky be removed until or unless the photos can be uploaded to the forum server. I don't intend to make trouble as a new member, but it's a fact that photos become effectively non-existent right quick if they're hosted on a third party server.
