Welcome! Thanks for announcing yourself here. It's interesting how quiet things are in the Michigan Glockers area of the Forum.

Do you have a favorite range? Mine is Center Mass. Love the people there and the range is nice. Prices reasonable and are on par with other places. Lower than Huron Valley Guns which happens to be much closer to where I live.

    Safe shooting folks!

Both were convicted of felonies and are now serving jail time so no more firearms for them.
They were pulled over cause someone reported two men were around a shopping district wearing tac vest's and ski masks and took offense to it and went to the Dearborn PD to confront the officer...

Geez, after reading the article, it seems they got off pretty lightly and the bond isn't nearly as high as I'd expect considering the terror they caused at the precinct. The officers were right to be fearful that the 2 men were there to do harm. They were unnecessarily provoking a response and with the media having published story upon story of bad things happening to officers, it's no wonder the officers had to draw upon them. You never know what intentions a person has but when Spidey senses cause that hair to stand up on the back of your neck, there's gonna be a response.

The story wasn't very well written though. I found myself wondering why the two were convicted of concealed carry. Did they not have their CPLs? I think that's probably what the case was but the article didn't say. They also didn't elaborate at all if the first officer who had pulled them over could have or should have done anything differently to monitor the behavior of masked and armed men. Do people in general really have the right to run around town masked and armed like that without any repercussion? Seems kind of strange to me. I've never thought about doing that myself to find out.

Hey, glad to see some other Michiganders active here — just joined as I’m about to jump into 9mm shooting/reloading, probably with a Glock 19 Gen 5..still making up my mind about that; I’m intrigued by the 19X, too..

We recently moved to the South Lyon area so in the meantime I’ve been shooting a lot of .45 ACP hand loads through my Dan Wesson Specialist Commander at Huron Valley Guns, which is just a couple miles from my door..

If you have a CPL you can take their Advanced Handgun course. I took #1 a couple weeks ago and will take #2 in February. Three hour class, nearly 200 rounds of shooting, $50.. (No financial relationship with HVG except as a satisfied customer.)

I can’t imagine a reason I’d want to carry OC but I’m quite comfortable carrying CC where stealth is on my side. I guess I subscribe to the ‘OC dude is the first one shot’ theory..

Yes, that incident did not go over well for me either. Thanks for reminding me...:p

The date was February 5. I know this because 20 minutes before they walked into the police station my father passed away.

Interesting thing, when an elderly person in the care of a facility passes, the police are called to ensure no foul play happened before the funeral home can be called to pick up the deceased and begin their work.

In this case the police had to say, sorry we are on lockdown, call back in a few hours and we'll see what we can do. So we got to sit with Dad for 3 1/2 hours until these 2 morons were dealt with. What a fun night that was. OC did not prevent this !

Hey Commo! We're practically neighbors! I'm just north of HV and have stopped in several times since they've opened. Their 1911 collection is pretty decent and the people working there are always willing to hang out at the counter and answer questions. Prices are a bit higher than my liking but if you want something now, their overall selection can't be beat. Thanks for the tip on the Advanced Handgun course. Those robotic target tracks are pretty sweet!

Hey peng! I'm really sorry to hear about your father passing away. My father in law passed away in December 2016 and we were there when he took his last breath. It was a surreal experience. I can't believe having to wait 3 1/2 hours for things to be taken care of. That's a difficult situation gone worse. :( Nothing is ever the same after we lose a parent. I've lost my Mom and my 2 in-laws who pretty much raised me since I was a teen. I was really close to my father in law too. He was an avid shooter and we ended up having to figure out what to do with his whole firearms collection including loading equpiment. A majority of everything he had is now sold. Just a small amount of stuff yet to get rid of and we can close his Estate. It really made us realize how important it is to have a Last Will and Testament drawn up and made 'official'. He did this and made the process as easy as it can be given the massive amount of stuff you have to do to clear out a home, sell it, and distribute to the siblings. Peace be with you.

Like Ann Arbor Arms, HVG is one of those new cathedrals to the shooting world that seem to be popping up..barbershop, restaurant, 25, 50 and even a 100-yard indoor range. Their prices are a bit high, $17/hour (25 yard) for range time for example, but I’d like to see it succeed coz it is so close to home!

Speaking of prices, has anyone used the membership in GSSF to qualify for Glock’s LE pricing, and if so, know of any SE Michigan dealers who participate? I haven’t asked yet at HVG. Looks Oakland Tactical is an LE dealer but don’t know if that means they honor GSSF coupons..

I guess if you are open carrying in a gun free zone I sort of get it. By in large I see it as people that want the attention or think they are cool. Anyone, that does it in the least for these reasons should not leave the house with a firearm ever.
