My wife wants me to make a corn chowder recipe that calls out cream as an ingredient.

    Fair enough.

Why the heck can't I find it in the store??? It's either milk, half and half or forget it. I don't think I've ever bought cream before, but I never figured I wouldn't be able to if the need came up.

What's the deal? Do I need to make the stuff? If I do, what do I need to do? Start with milk?

I'm thanking God right now I'm not asking this question in the OAF. ;f

There in no whipping cream or heavy whipping cream in stores in Santa Cruz? Hmmm... I remain unconvinced.

There's a container of heavy whipping cream in our fridge right now. Pretty sure it came from Safeway on 41st. Producers brand.

In our area the grocery stores carry pints of both whipping cream and heavy cream. They're in the square waxed containers like school milk came in when I went to school (might still come in them?).

I found some whipping cream at Scotts Valley Market.

The corn chowder was excellent. ;c
