    http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/feb/12/4-month-old-boy-identified-fatal-ax-attack/

I dont even have words to explain my shock level! A random psycho scum bag chops a 4 month old baby to death with an ax as a mother is pushing her baby in a stroller in broad daylight downtown on a public street!!!!

This happend today and it reminds me why I carry 24/7. It may have been a lightning quick ambush and a gun may not have stopped this unimaginable murder... but if it happend to my wife and child and I was there, he would not make it to court to face justice.

The bastard attacked the cops afterward and tried to take away the cop's shotguns and they let him live? WTF, over?

I hate to critique other officers decisions after the fact but I dont know why he didnt get shot by the officers either? maybe the officer was hesatant to shoot a man with no gun? Maybe the other officer didnt have a clean shot without endagering his partner that was being assaulted?

I am so sorry, but if I was there, it is very likely I might have died at his hands, cuz I would have probably FORGOTTEN about my gun, in my haste to disengage him from the baby + mom.

    **** that crazy guy.

I'm glad they let him live... "prison justice" in his future.

I wish I had contacts in the prison he goes to.:steamed:

Damn. Fortunately though, there were no other victims, running outside and yelling at him to stop? That could have turned even uglier real quick.

I think the attacked officer may have reverted to training, retained his weapon, and probably saved his own skin and possible others. As for the rest.... We transported a prisoner who had several charges for assault and resisting arrest before this, he charged cops w/2 knives and they tased him. He fell 3 feet from an officer...lucky that taser worked that time. If the story is right, the guy was COMPLETELY unarmed at the time (til he tried, but then couldn't get the shotgun, so was again unarmed). I'm EMT, not LEO, but that is my theory as to why they were even willing to use the taser.

This man (if you want to call him that) was a sociopath, basically meaning he has no conscience or feelings for anyone other than himself. He probably did this just to see what it was like to kill someone. The only punishment for hacking a baby to death with an ax is to do the same thing to him........slowly.

Is there something wrong with me if I am thinking about creative, almost unimaginably violent ways to torture this SOB to death?

I'm also thinking the same thing a lot of you guys probably are: how is it that he attacked a cop and even tried to take said officer's shotgun but didn't get his face transformed into an *******?

No, as soon as I read it I imagined myself going outside and dumping a g17 mag into him.

The police don't kill people because they CAN......but only when they HAVE to. Apparently, they didn't have to in this situation.

His life would have most likely ended had he been successful in getting said shotgun away from the officer.

I hope Nevada has a guilty but mentally ill provision. Awful horrible situation for Ms Casto. I cannot even imagine.

That's just unspeakable. Armed or not, bad leg and all, that's not happening around me.

Yeah, and generally speaking I'm thankful for the professionalism of 99.99% of our law enforcement officers. But just this once I wouldn't have minded the news article ending different.

What I was thinking of didn't involve a firearm but rather duct tape, a knife, a drill, and a bottle of lemon juice, then maybe a dull rusty ax.

    That's bad. I wish it hadn't happened.

Kudos to the cops for catching the guy.
