I have a piece of woodworking machinery listed on Craigslist for $1100.00. I got 3 emails from 3 different email addresses, but all are basically the same. They all stated the ad is what they are looking for, but have a few questions that are hard to describe in an email, so they have prepared a video, and want me to click on a video link, and enter a code to view the video with their questions. I have not tried to view the videos, and have not emailed them back. I am sure this is some sort of scam, but do not know what.

Does anyone have experience with this??

yeah, i get those when i post stuff for sale too. total spam. i always ask for local buyers only in the ad. helps kinda prevent those replies...

    Sounds legit to me.

I make video responses to emails all the time, when i don't feel like typing.

Whenever "Craigslist" and "scam" come up in the same sentence the answer is always yes.

I have no idea what those videos will try to sell you, or if they will try to take over your computer or what. Do you really care?

Never encountered it, but it sounds like it's certainly a scam. Trash the emails and don't click on anything in them.

No experience, but I wouldn't open that video... lol

I had trouble with craigslist when I went to meet this girl on the personals... she told me to bring 100 roses, and when I did, she got all pissed off for some reason... and the sex wasn't that good either. :)

    No 4TS&W,

You have the girl come to you.
    One call does it all.

30 minutes later she shows up at your doorstep
all hot and fresh. Just like a pizza.

You know, questions like this baffle me.

Here's a nickle's worth of free advice. If you're on the internet and you find yourself asking "I wonder if this is a scam" or "well, that's completely out of the ordinary, I wonder why they want me to do that" ... It's a scam.

Further, if you encounter a scam on the internet it's not really necessary to tell everyone (especially your IT guy) about it. Chances are we've either seen it or we subscribe to the rule above.

Frankly, anyone dumb enough to fall for a craigslist scam isn't going to have the smarts to decipher your warning anyway.
