I've got a crackling speaker problem. I recently got new speakers, so I tried 2 different headphones in the sound port and still got the crackling. Should I try to get some contact cleaner in there or is my sound card just shot? I only bought it a little over a year ago.

    Could be several things...

It could be a failing sound card as you. But it could also be something shorting out on your motherboard that is sending a small electrical current that is interfering with the signal. If you've tried multiple headphones/speakers then it's definitely not that. You also tried different sound effects/songs/programs too right? To make sure you're not just testing it with a bad mp3 or something?

Try muting anything you are not using in playback and recording properties in "Volume Control"
