I'm sure they've done their research, but there will be some of the church crowd that will ditch Cracker Barrel once they make this move. Two locally and going forward with it.

So, who is in the mood for an Uncle Hershal's big breakfast and a Coors, or maybe pintos and cornbread with a red wine? Yum...

If they don’t serve shine, then why bother?

Shine, the real stuff and not the fake stuff from Gatlinburg, is readily available around here, but you can't get it at Cracker Barrel.

I have an acquaintance who is an artist when it comes to untaxed distillation.

This is a picture of his still. All copper and a double thumper to boot.

They could. Moonshine is legal in TN.

They’ve been selling beer and wine here in Florida for awhile.

They got a brand made in Gatlinburg that should be the house shine of Cracker Barrel.

Real moonshine isn't legal anywhere. It's illegal at the federal level.

Well, if the religious don't like alcohol, they shouldn't order any. The food is still great, at least that's what I've heard as there are no Cracker Barrels around these parts.

It seems logical that they would sell bottled spirits in the country store. It fits the ambiance.

It would have to be made in China to fit in with all their country store products.

If genuine shine liquor was all that was available I'd have a few sips. I'd much prefer a good bourbon, but that's just me.

I agree. Maybe they'll have a separate bar area. Could be a nice addition.

So after reading your comment I explored the topic...

I've seen "Moonshine" in liquor stores here, which is what my comment was based on. "It" is legal when manufactured by a licensed distillery, so the product, while being the same product as moonshine, it isn't technically moonshine because to be considered "moonshine", it has to be manufactured illegally.

Those federal taxes seem to take the shine off.

I can't imagine them benefiting from it. When I'm in there it's normally older people who are ok eating country fried steak without a beer. Of course I guess those folks will eventually die off.

Dale, that's very true. There's a big difference between Moonshine you can buy in a store, and shine liquor you buy in the woods, or behind the seller's house.

Taxes, and sometimes quality control, are the biggest differences. But some of that shine can be really good. I'm not saying I'd turn down Pritchard's for shine, but I've had really good shine. I've had bad shine, too. Bad shine is mean. Mean like Pelosi the day after the election this year. Oh! Mean like Hillary after she lost...that's a good comparison.

I wouldn't know. When I was ten I had been out playing all day and came home super thirsty. In the fridge, right in front was a mason jar full of what I thought was water. I popped the top and took a huge swig, and about died on the spot. I coughed so hard and so much that I puked.

Never tried the stuff again after that.
