I see waaaaaay to many post recently about non gun releated stuff (fru fru) in the non glocking section that should have never been there in the the first place. After all is that not why you have the lighter side?

Maybe you could put out a simple notice that the non glocking section is for gun stuff that does not fit in the glocking section.

    thanks

This is a section where pretty much any non-Glock related topics can be discussed. Having a separate section for these non-Glock questions will help take some of the strain off of the General Glocking forum.

I think some of the stuff is fine. GNG is for all kinds of stuff. If you see a thread about dogs or cats and don't want to read it don't go clicking on it. I myself put a thread out in GG tonight about "Diabolic". Kind of cutesy story about retribution, no need to get upset that I posted it in the wrong forum (should be in GNG--stupid me!) just don't read it if you don't want to. Eddie P.S. it is a good story though (lol).

GNG is a tough call; some posts are moved and some are kept by the three mods of that section. Tough call sometimes.;g

I like general non glocking like it is and im sure the majority of GT users agree. If you want a gun only board go to www.packing.org

blackopsglock, this board has evolved into much more that just being about guns. It is a community and GnG is the gatherting place of sorts. We have quite a few "gun only" forums on the board.

well, some might like that kinda dribble but there are lots of other forums out there to read that sort of Crappppppp. Not so many gun forums.Personally I would like to see yall use another board for the dribble and keep the non- glocking section for Non glocking guns.

Or am I preaching at the chior?

You have to realize that many people who frequent this community do not have extensive experience with Glocks or any other firearm, for that matter. GNG allows those people to participate on this board and become a part of the community. Sometimes, that is not necessarily a good thing, but you simply need to wade through the threads of no interest to you, and click on and respond to those which are of interest. The Mods do a great (and thankless) job controlling GNG.

If you're only interested in firearm discussions, go to one of the many forums dedicated to that. Or you can go to The Firing Line for more generalized firearms information. You can make this board experience what you want. Sit back and enjoy.

Well to support my position I just went on the Non glocking page and in the last 10 days there are 25 pages of post.In those 25 pages over 60% of them are about dogs, cats and touchy feeling crap that I have to wade through to get to the good stuff.I usually get board after 1 or two pages and i feel sure I miss some good post because of it.

I post this only to help and to draw the attention to the fact that glocktalk maybe losing members trying to sort through the martha stewart wharehouse of dribble!

60% of those post could be put in the lighter side where they could be viewed, admired and ignored.

on the first page alone there are post about

child porn, picking up men, trapping, football quarterbacks, cigars, beer, pregnancy, german cars, psoting your thanksgiving pics, what I had for thanksgiving, how to hook up my dvd player, florida state quaterback problems with the law,How am I feeling after thanksgiving, dvd downloads, did we really land on the moon, mtv music awards, paul mccartney special, bread recipe, sony cybershot problem's.

Does anyone else see a problem with this but me?Lots of fluff but not much information.

I love glock talk but its slowly going down hill and I feel post like these are the reason for it.
Even in the tactics and training section traffic is way down.

going back even a year or so ago I remember that most people place information in the non-glocking section about, berettas, colts, shotguns, rifles, flashlites and other gun related stuff.

    blackopsglock,
I see you're fairly new here so you might not understand. The diversity in GNG is the beauty of it. People that hang out there, like myself, consider it a part of the family. You can use GNG to discuss, rave, rant, vent, etc. anything under the sun much like you would to a best friend, brother, sister, etc. So the next time you'd like to know how to cook a turkey, photograph a wedding, find the name of a song, install an air conditioner, ..., you can visit alt.howto.whatever or you can ask at GNG. I'm sure you'll find all the info you need from the friendliest Glock lovers. If you still have a problem with that, then you can visit TFL General Discussion Forum. But don't try to fix what ain't broken here. Peace. ;c

The only problem I have is when people post a thread telling you they are going to bed or asking what you are going to do today, etc.

I have no problems with any of the ones you cited as examples.

To be perfectly honest, I have a bit of a problem with a relative newcomer coming here and saying that one of the busiest forums on this board is mostly crap. Considering the amount of traffic Glock Talk in general gets, and Non-Glocking in particular gets, we must be doing something right. As I said, there are many guns only forums on this board. As for GnG, read what you like and bypass the rest. There is something for everyone.

Everyone is indeed entitled to an opinion and I thank you for expressing yours. Please do keep in mind that there are a lot of folks here who put in a great deal of time and effort to keep this board running.

Wow! Someone register's 10/06/2002 (read: not even quite 2 months ago) and thinks they should be able an change the way Glock Talk is run. Dude you gotta lot of nerve! Keep your unwanted opinions away from Glock Talk as I think I speak for most when I say we like it just the way it is! I think Patricia was being a little nice just calling you a "relative newcomer" as you are a baby, I am a relative newcomer. BYE! ;t

I have no doubt that Eric (the owner of this board) has looked at this thread, and considered your point. Really this is completely his decision (as is anything else that happens here). I appreciate everything he does, if you don't like the way things are run, nobody is making you stay. You are free to hang around, you are also free to start your own board and run it to your liking. Don't tell Eric how to run his.

    my happy place ...
Just to echo: this is a community, not just a 'gun board.' People here have long-standing online friendships and animosities, and there is a definite feeling of family. Not that it's a clique ... people are generally accepted to the level that they wish to participate, and shown an appropriate amount of friendliness and respect, based on the friendliness and respect that they show others here.

If you only want gun content, why do you even read the GNG forum????? There are tons of clubhouses for different calibers and types of weapons. I guess what it boils down to is this: this board is not limited to firearms content. Period. Get used to it, and don't read that forum if it isn't of interest to you.

Finally ... Welcome aboard! And I mean that sincerely. I hope you do some thinking and decide to stick around. After a while, you may start to see what people mean about the family feel of the board, and why several people seem rather upset that you would like to change it. ;)

    Best Regards,
