Costco has opened a chicken processing plant recently in NE Nebraska. You would not believe the number of chicken growing operations that have popped up that contracted to supply the plant.

    This is nothing new.

This has been happening for over two decades (maybe three now).

KFC for example even has their own equipment in poultry processing plants to get the cuts they want.

And I sometimes give chicken sandwiches and earphones to young homeless women.

That's called barter. It's not giving if they had to do something for you first. Quid, pro, JOE Biden.. ;). (Ok Bill Clinton would have made more sense)...

I'm just ticked chicken processed in China can be labled USA...

In a somewhat related question, does it bother anyone else that the twit that came up with "Kirkland Signature" put the signature part in script when it is the name that is supposed to be signed ie SIGNATURE? It is pedantic and stupid but it bugs me.

I bought a Costco chicken yesterday because we really enjoy them, not because of the price. In fact, I had to look at the receipt tonight to confirm the price of $5.

It seems Costco has identified a very effective marketing program using rotisserie chickens to go along with their other merchandising programs that attract me: a good selection of good merchandise, good pricing, good return policy, and a friendly shopping environment. I'm liking everything about Costco.

    PS: very interesting article.

We used to buy Kroger rotisserie chicken for a buck or so more, good stuff. But then they started selling fried for about the same price. Not as good as home cooked but close enough.

I admit. If I am by local WW @9pm I pick up chicken. 9 piece cooked, cooled, $4.62. @4meals.

they sell a spiral sliced ham for $2.29/lb that is really good. I put it in freezer bags with 8 oz. to a bag and it makes sandwiches for weeks.

what's not to like about these birds? my wife works magic with those things. pulls the meat off and makes an awesome stir fry, and then makes a chicken soup out of the rest. fantastic.

Every so often I'll snag a rotisserie chicken at HyVee or Wallymart. Cheap, fast and delish.

Just yesterday, the wife ran across a story about the Costco chicken having their own Facebook page.

I throw down on Sam's Club rotisserie chickens all the time. Good stuff, cheap and they make great sandwiches the next day as well.
