“In reality, the virus clinically no longer exists in Italy,” Alberto Zangrillo, head of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, told RAI television. “The swabs that were performed over the last 10 days showed a viral load in quantitative terms that was absolutely infinitesimal compared to the ones carried out a month or two months ago.”

Any of the doctors here want to give us their ideas on why this is occurring?

I read something years ago that Viruses are prone to "transcription mistakes" when mutating, and can mutate themselves out of existence. Is that correct?

I recall early on that the virus was considered a "low fidelity" replicator - and when you have low fidelity replication, I guess that is mutation.

Virus mutation tends to go down the path of decreased viruleno, not increased...

    Most of the time....

    Thank god

An epidemiologist said that the further the virus gets from the index (first) case, the weaker it gets.

Additionally, early in the pandemic there was a good article posted (that quickly got censored) describing how the virus does not do as well in warmer and more humid weather, which combined with the above attenuation would probably lead to its "burning itself out" in the summer months.

Hasn't this already been covered ad nauseum? There are plenty of very hot places in the world that have a lot of cases.

Not really, plenty to throw at them: violent race riots, huge asteroid, locusts, alien invasions- ah heck! How about an asteroid that brings racist plague-infected aliens, and the Earth gets dosed by so much cosmic radiation that locust swarms cover the Midwest? Yep, our media's "Democracy in action!"

So Italy had 85 people die two days ago with 518 new cases, and 72 die yesterday with 270 new cases from something that no longer exists.

    Fascinating.
