For a fleeing biker he sure was going slow, probably why the officer decided to bump him.
Once they singled him out and separated him from the herd he was pretty much toast anyway. FL LE often has it’s own air support up for these riders and the news helicopters also like chasing them and give LE info/directions as well.

A rider on a houston biker forum would always allude to running from 5-0. even had his lights rigged where he could run dark. Would run on the shoulder in oncoming lanes to get away.
He made the big mistake one night of course and died in a fiery head on with a big truck

Our dept here has a policy of no bike chase. Not worth the lives of innocent bystanders. Follow yes if possible if not call it off. Get you another day.

I once passed one, cut back in front of him and hit my brakes. He hit my car and went down and was subsequently transported to the hospital and apprehended.

I had a bike pass me going over 100 mph. I followed until he exited on the toll road. Back then, you stopped at the toll booth to pay if you didn't have a TXTAG. He stopped at the toll booth, I went through the toll booth next to him, then turned on my lights and blocked his exit from the toll booth. Best to stop a chase before it starts. Follow until they stop at a red light or something and block them from the front. One of the units from our county chased a Harley 92 miles up IH 35. The bike ran out of fuel. Chasing a sports bike is a waste of time. Most of them will do 160-200 MPH. Organ donors.

we had two motors pull up alongside a motorcyclist doing wheelies and excessive speed as he pulled up to a red light. Guy on left pulled up and said “nice bike bro!” When the rider looked to the left the motor on the right reached over and turned off the ignition. He didn’t go anywhere

This is really cool. Sticking an old straight baton into their spokes works pretty well also, either stopped or moving. How about carrying a paint ball gun and painting their face or face shield. In the very least, it would mark them and their bike for other units down the road to watch for. I bet that Grappler Bumper thing would be fun to use on a motorcycle. I was on IH 37 one day many years ago when I saw a guy riding a motorcycle about 70 mph, leaning back on the sissy bar with his hands crossed behind his head and his legs crossed over the fuel tank. I drove up about 20 feet behind him without him knowing I was there. Then I turned on my lights and siren. He sat up so quick that he went all over the road from center lane to center median and back to the right shoulder. He got stopped and when I drove up next to him, he was visibly shaking. I rolled my window down and said, "I guess I don't need to tell you not to do that anymore!"

Actually, a mishap at those speeds will ruin just about every transplantable organ. The rider/victim has the consistency of a bag of wet concrete.

No, never chase them. Let them speed and do as they like. No law for them.

Hope the idiot didn't hurt the other driver. That rider chose his death. He chose poorly.

Had a long chase locally. Monitoring. A thinking supervisor came on, he said the obvious: 1. the bike was not stolen; 2. the biker lived within a couple of miles; 3. go to a different frequency and I will give you his address. 4. park a couple blocks away and get him when he arrives home.

Several years ago an NYPD PPO wheelied past a neighboring city's pcnt. with some buddies as several uniforms were out front, apparently flipped the bird as he did, knowing that agency wouldn't pursue the bike. He dumped it right after, got picked up, and was terminated. PSGWSP.
