Cool, but completely frivolous purchases.

I just spent ~500 hundred dollars for crystal ball.

It's very unlike me to buy something so frivolous, but I've just wanted one for so long. Why, I have no idea, I'm not a witch or anything. I just think they're neat.

Let's create a list of useless crap we've all indulged in.

    Trophy wife.

It was worth every penny just to get rid of her.

I have a bunch of solar cells, I keep meaning to build solar lights from. I paid about the same amount you did.

Other than that, I've got my eye on an OD green .40 Kriss Vector...

I just tracked down the last car I needed to complete the Hot Wheels Camaro Fiftieth Anny set. I don't know what the heck I'm going to do with them, just a thrill of the hunt thing.

I bought an antique German microscope on Ebay. I didn't need it, but it is well made and is very heavy, so I guess I could use it as a self-defense weapon.

A room full of musical instruments, 75% of which haven't been out of the case in years. And probably about 25% of which I can't play.

I turn down offers on some of them, and can't understand why. I've never learned to play guitar, or mandolin, or banjo, yet I seem to feel the need to keep them. Why?

Probably the most useless and expensive item I've bought was a WWII navigational compass from a submarine. I got it because it was made by C.G.Conn, who like most companies of that time had converted from making musical instruments to making navigational equipment and bomb sights for the war effort.

While staying at the Irma Hotel in Cody, Wyoming last fall, I noticed the small cast iron buffalo heads gracing the restaurant booths as coat hangers. They are about the size of a lemon I guess and are made locally. For some reason they struck my fancy.
Bought one for about $150. It now graces my reloading bench. Usually has a rifle hanging on it.

I am not going to get into some but I will mention this one, only because it was a dollar or two.

I certainly did not need another folding knife. And I absolutely can not imagine for what I would use a folding knife with a plastic blade in addition to a plastic body.
