Cooking Kale

    Anybody ever cook Kale and if so with what? I always wonder what and how htis stuff taste and is it more like lettuce or cabbage.

    blanch, serve with butter & lemon (also good mixed with other greens or spinich)


    or

    dice potatos and put in boiling water. throw in a couple cloves of garlic. towards the end, when the potatos are almost done, throw in some kale cut about 1/2 inch strips. finish cooking then drain. add 3T butter and half package of cream cheese (or some sour cream) mash together and enjoy!

    ;f noway.My mom's recipe.A bunch or two of kale.A bunch or two of collard greens.Ham hocks and small piece of salt pork.
    1.rinse salt pork and put in pot.put enough water to cover salt pork and boil for 5 minutes.
    2.drain water off salt pork and prep greens.
    3.rinse ham hocks off and put in pot with salt pork.fill pot half way with water.start cooking with med. heat.
    4.double rinse greens and kale=clean dem mofos good.
    5.cut up collard and add to pot.let them boil down.cut up kale and add to pot.
    6.turn now and then
    7.watch water level and turn
    8.add a med. pinch of baking soda while cooking=1/4 tsp.

    my part to the recipe was to add scallion,2 pieces,cut up.
    9.cook until tender and tastey..good luck.^3
    cook 4or5 hours

    tell me more....I'm interested.Their used to be a Ukranine store that serve beet soup and some kinda of Kale dish and I never got a chance to get some before they closed and whent out of business.


    Also don't laugh, I bought some ( kale) and thought it was a subsitute for lettuce and tried it on a hamburger..... Yuck!

    chop and fry 1/2 pound of bacon

    chop 1/2 bunch of celery,2 or 3 cloves of garlic and an onion fry with bacon.

    remove the heavy stems from kale chop roughly(big pieces)fill the pan full it cooks way down

    add a can of butter beans juice and all
    put a lid on it and simmer til the kale is cooked and tender

    add a good shot of vinegar and serve

    this is good and better the next day

    Rinse the Kale, cut into pieces, stir fry with bacon grease.
