    I'm thinking about making my Gen4 G19 into a G19L by getting a LWD 17 slide and a LWD dust cover...I already ordered a 17 LWD barrel.

Per LWDs website, to convert I have to order a 19L LWD barrel, 17 slide and dust cover. Can I use the LWD 17 barrel on my Gen4 G19 frame instead of ordering a G19L barrel? Per their website, the 19L and 17 barrel are the same length... will it match up correctly with the frame?

    TIA

They do not match up. Difference is in the locking lug on the barrel.

LOL...it's not making up anything new...LWD has it available on their website. It would be like reducing the grip on a G17 to a G19 but have the longer slide/barrel. :tongueout: There are a few folks on this site that have done this to their pistols.

I'm not willing to spend the $$$ to convert it, but it's interesting (to me) to have both by just changing out the slide. :wavey:

why not just put in a few extra bucks and buy a G17........then you would have a G19 and a G17. If you are going to lengthen then why not add the two extra rounds as well?

Yea, I just bought a NIB G17 RTF2 yesterday and thought it would be nice to have the option to convert my Gen4 19 with the smaller grip but have a 17 slide/barrel to change it out when wanted.

I don't need to do it and it would cost too much $$$ (for me) to do it. I got bored last night and started thinkin' too much making a "personalized" pistol...

I guess I could buy a LWD 19L barrel and a dust cover, probably a couple hundred dollars and have the option to put the 17 w/gills slide on my 19. :dunno:

I know of a guy who has a Glock model 1917:) He took a 17 and chopped the grip to fit the 19 mags. It is very well executed and has a nice balance to it.

Where did you get the NIB RTF2? I have a couple RTF2's and want more:)

LOL, I have a 19XL with a 34 slide and 19XL barrel with dust cover of course all on a new 19 lower and it a real sweet pistol. Dont knock it til you tried it. Shorter grip with that longer slide is EASY to CC and very accurate with 100% reliability. I wouldn't change it for anything.

I've always thought this combination would be great for my HD battery.

When I started my CCW/SD battery, I choose the G19 over the G17. So now I have 1 G26 and 2 G19s and all my spare mags are G19 mags. At this point in time, no way will I get a G17 for SD/HD because I do not want to mistakenly grab the G17 and some G19 mags should the SHTF ever occur.

But to have a couple of HD guns with G17/G17L length barrels on G19 frames? Idiot proof and sweet.

This is my first post. I would like to share a photo of my Glock 19L, which is a 17 slide on a 19 frame. The 19L barrel and dust cover are from LWD. This setup shoots really well and is my favorite range gun. [IMG]
