Initially, I found the Glock OEM triggers to be a bit hard. I was coming from .22s in which lightening the trigger is a never-ending quest. (I guess I was spoiled....)

So I set up both my Gen 3 G19 and G17 with a 6# trigger spring, reduced power striker safety spring, 4# striker spring, polished all metal-to-metal contacts and put in a Ghost standard 3.5 connector. (Neither a carry gun.) It made a big difference and I liked it.

Just for the heck of it after shooting a couple of 1000 rounds thru each I wanted to try putting the OEM 5.5 connector back in and leave all else the same. (Don't really know why, just playing to see what it would feel like.)

To my surprise, it didn't feel any harder to pull while dry firing. I did, to some extent, feel a bit of difference in "feel". I don't know enough about it to say what this is so I'll go with the "crispness" that is talked about. Still much lighter than out of the box but it felt different.

I took the 19 with the 5.5 back in and the 17 with the 3.5 still in to the range. Seemed like no difference. The two guns' triggers felt almost identical except for the above-mentioned "crispness" of the break in the 5.5 equipped 19. And I liked it better!

So I came home, took 'em apart for cleaning and put the 5.5 connector back into the 17 so it should have the different feel, also. Curious to see if it performs the same next trip out. I did notice, while "riding the reset", that the little 'click' it makes was different, also and more "clicky" with the 5.5 than the more dull click with the 3.5.

But this seems (to me) strange. Why change the connector to a 3.5 if, with all other mods made for lightness, the 5.5 connector's lightness is about the same? Granted, I didn't use a gauge and it is strictly my feel but still.... :dunno:

I tried the factory Glock 4.5# connector.

First thing I noticed was the lack of a 'stage' like with the 5.5#. There's just a continuous, steady pull rate and sudden letoff. I liked the one on a guy's 19 at the range so I put it on my G21SF, but a few mags in I started to get unintended double taps, so the 5.5# went back on that night. The trigger was just too light for my liking.

some of our guys don't like the stock glock trigger, but for our duty guns, that's what you have to make do with. with their backup/offduty guns, some have had me set them up with OEM "-" 4.5# connectors and a NY1.

as much as people hate the NY1, even with stock connector, it isn't that bad in a defensive shoot. it might suck for competition, but i set up a - connector and ny1 in my 19 and shot a 33-rd mag as fast as i can (and stay on target) and my time was the same as with stock connector. it's all about trigger control.

i am going to try a "dot" connector in my gen3 32 and put in a "-" connector in my gen4 32 (when it gets released) and compare.

I think the "crispness" of the 5.5 comes from the fact that the trigger bar is camming straight down, rather than back, and down (as the more angled 3.5 does). And while the 3.5 may feel easier, it is mushier due to this dual movement. This probably explains the more positive reset of the 5.5 as well.

Yes. Can't 'zactly explain why, I just found it felt a tiny bit different but still as light as with the 3.5 installed. Since I can change the connectors by just taking out the rear pin, lifting the assembly, twisting it a bit and exchanging the connector it was about 10 minutes start to finish.

Clean, lube, reassemble finished. I'm gonna take both my 9's back out next week and see what happens. From the result I had with the 19, this should be good!

I suppose I'll hang on to the two 3.5 connectors for future use. Or in case they become rare and I can sell them for big profits!!!:supergrin:
