    thanks for all the inputs.

actually, am thinking of a 40 hi cap comp with optics.

is armscor the official distributor of sti now?

how can you tell fake from original parts sti or other brands? mahirap kasi dito sa atin alam nyo naman.

would it be cheaper to assemble a 1911 hicap with optics?

or would it be more cost effective to buy a built up gun like an STI edge? pros and cons please.

if i have the cash, i'll go get an original, factory build sti edge. iba talaga resale value ng original unit na galing sa US of A.

kaso di ko kaya maglabas ng ganun kalaking pera, so i always do it the loooong way...

    hi! inputs lang.

    - STI websites include the following distributors: Armscor, True Weight and Weapons Systems Corp.

    - Mahirap unless you've seen the original parts para ma-compare mo sa fake. meron gunstore na may kumpletong machine na kayang gayahin lahat ng dimension at itsura. magtatalo yan siguro sa tensile strength which equates to durability

    - better pa rin kung buo na yung 1911 kung gusto mo makatipid. the added gunsmithing cost of assemmbling/fitting of your gun is quite expensive

    - different gunsmiths may or may not do a good job of building your pistol. if you have the dough, better kung bibilhin mo STI ng completely built up na. still, I've had good experiences in building up an STI pistol from scratch. when I think about it, since mag-iipon din lang ako, I'll get the ones assembled from the US. at least may factory testing na rin na ginawa doon (part of quality control) tapos i-break in ko na lang.

As regards to parts, my experience with STI/SVI, Wilson and Ed Brown parts turned out well and good.

Malaki ang advantage ng super sa 40 in Open. Not only sa higher capacity but sa effectivity working the comp, as well.

The rest, meron cheaper alternatives like the armscor or SAM (wag lang small parts for SAM).

And the biggest factor sa pag-buo ng 1911 mo eh yung smith mo. You have to make sure nakita mo na kug ano lumalabas sa shop nya. Bale wala imported parts mo kung ngongo yung bubuo.

I thought 40 is the caliber of choice for open guns now. Thanks for the correction.

baka lumang magwell yung nakita mo bro.
meron na silang bagong MSH w/ built-in magwell(plastic or metal).nakalimutan ko nga lang kung magkano price.
ask mo nalang sa susunod na pumunta ka sa shop nila sa EDSA kung me stock sila noong msh w/ mag-well sa cebu at kung pwede kayo maka o-morder.

tama si oliver, alternative sa barrel if you want cheap ones are amrscor or SAM. wag nga lang yung mga small internal parts ng SAM dahil medyo malambot nga.
