Just wondered what a good competition holster would be for the Glock 34. Are the CR Speed holsters a good choice?
    thanks,
    Dan

It depends on the type competition and category of registration.

I use one holster for every game, KyTac SooperHooperII.

It's plenty fast for steel plates, and perfect for IDPA.

I just shoot PPC matches, and need something where the front sight won't drag when I pull it out of the holster. Something along the line of the CR Speed Holster may work, hopefully at a cheaper price.

I didn't want an expensive rig so I'm a 100% Uncle Mikes boy. Uncle Mikes Glock Kydex holster (which fits my G34 very well) $20. Uncle Mikes Double Magazine holster $20. Uncle Mikes Mirage Duty Belt (on clearance, but I would have bought one of their other nylong duty belts instead) $20. So for the price of one holster I have my entire root'n toot'n shoot'n rig and its all really nice.

I just started shooting a handgun this year. I don't feel that using Uncle Mikes equipment is going to be a detriment to my abilities. Maybe one day if I'm doing IDPA and I'm .1 seconds behind someone else on the draw... otherwise whats the difference other than money?

Would these holsters work with the Dawson optic front sight?

I see several shooters using blade-techs and dawsons. can't recall if I have seen them with sidearmor. But I am sure they will. I use a heinie brand front sight and it clears no problem.

They will work with both Sidearmor and Blade-Tech.

The $20 Fobus Holster's are great for the money also. I use one for my S&W .38

I have & use the CR speed. I bought it from Brownells. Seemed like a good price to me. The newer or improved WSM cr speed is probably better but I really like mine. I think the glock model may be on sale right now, you might check it out. www.brownells.com . I stepped up to this from a hogue powerspeed. The Cr speed is definitely more secure when it is "unlocked" than the hogue was, although I never had any trouble with it, either.

I second the Uncle Mikes stuff. I have their holsters for all my pistols.

I once bought a Blade Tech and it wore some of the finish after just a few draws. That one is sitting around collecting dust. (I have a projuct in mind for the kydex.)

    I Agree , I have 3 of them.
1 for Glock 34, 1 for Beretta Elite II and 1 for 1911.
    They are very fast.
    The downside is the wait.
I have waited as long as 3 months for mine.

    Dave Sevigny uses Ky-tac!

Thanks for the input. What Glock are you using with the CR speed holster? I am using the Glock 34 & 19.

I had a similar problem with a Fobus holster for my S&W .38. The tight fit does not work well if there is any foreign material in the holster. I have lots of scratches on the cylinder now due from minor traces of grit in the holster.

ANY holster will wear the gun's finish.

If you really care THAT much about the finish...buy two guns. One to shoot and one to sit in the safe.

I totally agree. If I ever wear out my Glock 19, if that is in fact possible, I will get the spare out of the safe.

I have a CR Speed with my G24. It works great and it doesn't wear the finish off as it locks on the plastic trigger gard.
