how far does everyone drive to work?
at what distance does it become unpleasant?
just curious thanks
My commute is 32.5 miles each way. It takes between 40-60 minutes on average, depending on signals and traffic. I enjoy driving, so it doesn't bother me at all. I see it as 80-120 minutes a day of time to myself.
17 mile commute here. It becomes unpleasant after about 2 miles.
I'm about 25 miles out. Before I moved it was about 8 miles. I prefer the longer distance, it gives me some time to unwind on the way home and time to wake up in the morning.
Mine is 57 miles each way. It takes about 59 minutes on average most days.
6.5 miles by bicycle. 18 degrees fahrenheit, like it was today.
~25 miles from my home to work
~3 miles from my home to my park and ride where I catch the bus
I usually take the bus, but occasionally I'll drive. Times are usually 30-45 mins in the morning to 1-2 hrs in the afternoon.
18 miles or so. Takes about 30 min. Im usually very impatient behind the wheel, but Ive just accepted the time it takes to get to work.
about a mile each way...and at the risk of losing my man card...I usually take my bike.:embarassed: 6 minutes door to door so I guess Lance Armstrong doesn't have to worry.
17 miles, 25 minutes... Somewhat my time....
About 4 miles... getting out of bed is the unpleasant portion.
thanks for the replies, i'm considering moving on the outskirts of town. my drive will be 10 miles but I will be able to shoot in the back yard which will be nice.
My last job was 110 mile round trip, about an hour each way. My new job is 7 miles, round trip about 10 minuets each way.
I actually kinda miss my commute but, I don't miss the gas bills. I enjoy driving, particularly driving fast on the freeway.
Now, my car isn't even warmed up by the time I'm pulling into my parking spot or driveway.
1.5 miles 5-10 min, 3 if I don't hit any lights.
In MA I used to go 44 miles each way. Boston traffic was a nightmare, 2 hours each way some days. After 20 years it can suck the life out of you. Then I move to SC. Now it's 5 miles each way.
0 commute time! company vehicle. Get in and start the clock!
Was 1.8 miles until I bought my house, now it's 19.4 miles.
The distance doesn't bother me, I'd rather take a 12 mile detour and keep moving than be stuck in bumper-to-bumper for 2.
I drive about 25 miles one way. If traffic is moving ok then I don't really mind the drive, however I have to switch freeway/highway 4 times in the comute and if one merge is messed up it slows the whole trip down. I use the time to listen to podcasts and mke any phonecalls I need to take care of.
Exactly 1 mile. Springs and Summers I usually bike unless i have a bunch of work crap to take back and forth. At one time it was about 50 mi. each way between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. That sucked.
24 miles from home to work. Takes me about 30 minutes. Not bad. I used to live about 50, took an hour, sometimes longer, that sucked.
