It's distracting. Which is the goal. Much more painful things are going to be flying MUCH faster at you in a real firefight.

    I like the idea.

Wasn't a guru of shooting who said

"You will not rise to the occasion. You will default to your training."?!?!?

Is it "advanced" because the brass was still hot?

No truer words sir, no truer words!

I heard it on this wise, "We fight as we train, we train as we fight, and visa versa."

Another good way of putting it.

And, for the ones getting ready to blast me for endorsing this, I am NOT saying it is the best way in the world to train. But, it IS better than training for life or death than just sitting putting holes in paper, while nothing goes on around you.

So should police officers train at the roadside with real passing traffic and pedestrians as they "fight" around a stopped car? It's goofy. What I saw right there was the range equivalent of the muscle jocks all slapping and touching each other at the gym.

That wimman shooter passed as far as I could see. She stayed focused on the simulated threat "down range;" however, the guy failed miserably as far as this training regime. I would surmise that next time he'll know to concentrate solely on the threat "down range" and not worry about superfluous matters going on around him, which these things will NOT get him killed if he stays focused on what's important.

Despite what all the GT "battle harden veterans" on this thread are eschewing, I like the additive diversion training concept and this one particular is a cheap but effective way of adding to the mental barriers that some people have to train over and or around.

Remember folks, education is not about failing students, but rather it is about TRAINING all the students to pass and overcome challenges.

I've seen quite a few "combat training" ranges that use lady finger firecrackers during live fire. It works wonderfully to get you startled.

That is probably more effective training than tossing brass at them. That guy that stopped probably didn't stop because brass hit him, he likely stopped because he didn't understand why the guy was throwing brass at him.

If they ever happen to get into a firefight in a brass storm with all their tacticool gear they're good to go!

I do believe they are ready for the Zombie Apocalypse.

Seriously though, why doesn't someone thrown a cat, or a duck, oooo! I know, maybe dump a bee hive on their head.:50cal:

Whats funny is if one bullet were actually being fired back at them about half of them would pee their pants.
