I just looked at the COLT's website and found something interesting - COLT's DAO series pistols.

The website list's 2 models: one based on the New Agent and another based on Gov't 1991. Not much info on them, just pictures and brief summary of features.

Not my cup of tea, but I can see the market for those.

    What's everybody's take on this?

Colt's way of trying to break into the Double Actions market that most LEA (Law Enforcement Agencies) mandate. If you want one get one quick...I think they will be dropped in two years.IMO

These look much better than the Double Eagle though, just hope they perform better too.

Probably not my cup of tea, but I'll keep an eye on them. Just nice to see Colt making anything new.

I agree... they just don't really offer anything to the TDA market that isn't already there, except the Colt name, and these days that's not likely to be enough.

Colt really knows how to make an ugly gun. they didnt even bother taking out the safety slide stop. why are they making this "new" double action gun and trying to make it look like an old gi gun with that finish and sights? seems dumb to me.

They are trying to compete with the Para LDA. I wonder if their trigger compares to the LDA?

Because it's based on a 1911. Like the Para.

On a side note, they're also offering the New Agent (and Defender I think) in 9mm.

I've got a New Agent, it's my primary EDC and a great pistol. Been as reliable as a Glock.

I think Colt would have been better served to up the QC in the rest of their line.

I like my old Double Eagle, but in no way is it a 1911.

Thanks JK... I am a idiot. I thought "New Agent" referred to a revolver so I was looking for both a DA revolver and a DA pistol.
