That would be the XSE series, I believe.

I have one without the rail. They're decent, though I'd MUCH rather have an STI Trojan for the same price.

Are you dead set on having a rail?

i am not really set on anything right now. the thought that i need a 1911 popped in my head the other day. at first i thought i wanted a good shooter but dare a say with some bling. then today looking at the colt i liked the black combat ready feel it had if that makes any sense.

i do know that anything custom is really not an option right now. so i am thinking i will get my feet wet in the 1000 to 1500 range and go from there. guess i am going to have to find a dealer with a nice selection to feel up.
target master had a variety of colts and a few springfields and a few kimbers.

i want a good shooter that can also be carried if i decide to. i dont think i want aluminum gun (a 1911 should be stainless right). i thought i wanted a stainless but now think i like the black better not really sure. cause i did like the black colt but thought the stainless one pictured on line was nice to.:dunno:

Colt is now making the rail gun in black and it looks great IMHO. I think of 1911s with rails being more of a tactical nature, hence black is much more appealing. I agree with Bac regarding STI. The DoubleStar is also a newcomer to the rail 1911 market, and of course you've got the Kimbers and SAs with rails too.

thanks. i am not really just looking for a rail gun. just a good all-around gun in that range maybe alittle more.

$1,500+ will get you a considerably nicer 1911 than Kimber or the Colt you were scoping.

In the XSE series, I'd choose for the Colt Combat Elite ~ $900 range and much better looking to me than the rail-guns.

You would love the STI Trojan.
