Ok, that's a mouthful for a name, I'm not sure if the 'Tactical' should be included...anyway, got this last Friday afternoon after consulting with vega via phone. (t.y. pala kay vega for his time talking to me while researching for me online) As you guys know, Cali is not a free state and as such, we have to make sure guns we intend to acquire has to be in the approved list. After listening to vega's wisdom on this item, I have to rush back to my local store and lo and behold, it was the last one of the 3 on display earlier that morning. In less than half an hour, I was heading back home with the rifle in the back seat with a little over $700 dent on my card.

Anyway, its a .22 cal and looks and feel like the real AR-15 even the weight (well, almost). I guess it’s an attempt to grab some shares away from the GSG-5 which are selling like hot cakes. Both guns are made in Germany although mine was made by Carl Walther with an agreement from the Colt brand. By the looks of it, the upper or the lower cannot be mated with the real AR-15. I tried to take it apart but when the bolt catch lever fell off, I know its not a functioning part and later found out its noted on the manual. Pa-epek lang...

If any Cali-based BOGs chime in and confirm I can bring in this toy to the state, I can save myself sending a letter to DOJ.

I know, i know, pics are mandatory...so heto na:

Nice! Though they could have shortened the mag to the length of a regular AR 30-rounder, it looks like a 40-rounder:supergrin:. And do you have to rotate the safety 180 degrees?

And is that really a pin above the selector or was it put there to look like it has an auto sear?

Ah, a real must-have...

yes, the safety's 'Safe' and 'Fire' marker is 180 degress apart. when I checked the internals, I did not noticed that pin but I'm almost positive its not a real one. I got scared when the bolt catch dropped and to be honest, it feels like a plastic...magaan eh.

go for it CM...sooner than later, it will show up in your neighborhood gun store or maybe they have them already? My local store started carrying them 2 weeks ago.

with ammo pricing going thru the roof and the supply is still pretty dry, this might be a good alternative to the real thing. I guess better than ersop.

VICARA - If that is a dedicated 22LR and cannot be interchange with the real deal then you are good to go here in CA. It's like having a GSG5 which is Cali legal. Markings are clear, Carbine 22LR and not AR15. You can have all the evil features on 22LR except more than 10 rounders.

Nice rifle! I'm sure when it hits CA the price will double. Let us know how it shoots.

yup, i'll carry it back on my next trip but i better get me this first.

besides, the 30-rounder looks funny.
i'm not sure price will spike now that long guns are starting to pop up everywhere. 2 gun stores i visited in vegas appear to look like pre-BHO days. lots of AR/AK in stock. I saw a complete RRA for $1,100, Colt is around $1,500 but fully loaded LaRue/Noveske/LMT and the likes are still in the 3Ks.

Ammos are a diff story!

vega: I asked them guys about getting just the upper but they carry only complete rifles. I think you better off getting it online.

hey guys its been a while... got promoted on my job and its been 'toxic' from day one.
yup, I finally got it to CA on my last trip to my home city but has yet to
visit the range. my buddy's grip for his .45 should come in any day now so a weekend trip to Metcalf is already planned.

anyway, i attended a refresher training while in vegas as a requirement for my ccw renewal and it was an eye opener. It made me realized even after 9 years of packing, I still have a lot to learn. My instructor is from the old school, a retired gentlemen from the service with a mile of credentials and of all the speakers I heard all these years, I guess he is the most that I listened to. Total immersion during the class, if you know what i mean.

The bad part is I have to go back to file my application as they now require proof of US citizenship even for renewals. di ko nadala passport ko. :steamed: 5 yrs ago, they did not need to see. The good thing is I got to shoot my non-neutered AR-15 (30-rounder and a real mag release)

Range report na lang next week but I will post a pic of my Colt 22 with a 10-rounder and my 'ACOG Trijicon':embarassed:

vega, patingin Tacsol mo. kumusta accuracy niya?

for US-based BOGs: Tip naman where to pick up bulk .22LRs. Wallyworld is hopeless so another local store might be a good bet. Or online store if still OK in CA.

thanks.

I tried Walmart and Big 5 but both of them are dry. You can still order online. Cabela have a promo on 22LRs.

I haven't shoot my TacSol yet, maybe next week when my brother arrives para isang biyahe na lang.
