I was looking at the Colt and the SW AR15's in 22long rifle today, Anyone have either one? The SW is made out of carbin fiber the colt is made just like the the rest of there's. But its made by walther. Any input will be helpful.

The consensus from everyone I have talked to is the Colt is a POS, and the S&W is the way to go when it comes to .22 lr Ar15s.

ok, it's carbin fiber then. I'd hate do disagree with a gun counter clerk!

....but mine seems to be a hard plastic, nothing at all resembling carbon fiber.

Smith & Wesson actually refers to it as polymer . . . sounds better than plastic.

I shopped both the Colt and S&W before I decided on the S&W. I've been very pleased with it.

    it is not carbin fiber

I own an S&W 15-22 and it is a real hoot to shoot, shoots accurate right out of the box, extra mags are reasonably priced and if you need it their customer service is excellent.

After a careful analysis of the available contenders, I purchased a Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22. I am extremely pleased with the rifle. I took the battle sights off the gun and put a 4X Trijicon ACOG TA31F-RMR on it. I'm not sure what I like best - the rifle or the tritium/fiber optic sight.

I've got about two thousand rounds through my Smith.
Actually my friends have shot it more than I have. Everyone likes it.

Since the controls and feel are the same as the AR I've been using it for a inexpensive trainer for the AR. So far a lady and 16 year old girl after running some mags through the Smith were completely at home when they picked up the AR.

I also went with the Smith. While mine shoots reliably, I think it shoots very low. I might have to do some further looking into that.
