Well, I don't know to what say. I've been bitten by a few dogs. One bit me on the end of the the johnson, and there's a scar to show for it. I have never been bitten by a human, but I still like dogs better.

They were bred to hunt badgers. They are bad-a** little dogs.

You need to cut them into little pieces so your kids don't choke on them. Read the label.

They are vicious when they are protecting a child member of their human family. I like them.

I really can't stand Dachshunds, but this is silly. How many vet techs DON'T get bitten on a regular basis?

PS: I own a "vicious" breed that has never ever considered biting a vet tech.

I only clicked because I hate weiner dogs... they can be single minded... one owner dogs and even bite small children in the face... I am bias to those little guys... yet I have only met 1 nice family oriented weiner dog in my time. yet its probably just the owners fault anyways...

When they get older, dachsunds can get a mean streak to 'em. Mrs. Crit brought a 10-11 year old weiner dog with her when I married her, and Horace got me pretty good on the hand the second time I tried to pet him. Still got a bit of a scar from it.

But there's a difference between a mean-spirited old dog (who's crabby because the cold weather outside of Texas messes with his arthritis), and anything that needs to be legally "labeled" as a menace, given tickets over, or -- God forbid -- euthanized. The lady at the animal hospital should've known that a part of dealing with animals day in and day out for the rest of your life is getting nipped every now and then. There's no need to take some poor little weiner dog and kill it, over something like this.

Hopefully the city will back down.

Most smaller breeds are like that...it's funny as hell to watch them hold their ground, but it can get them into some bad trouble. For example, true story:

About 3-4 years ago I had a Chihuahua mysteriously popped up in my yard one day (I guess it was lost, because I live way out in the woods). Anyways, I hear my Catahoulas going crazy outside, and look out the window and see this little ankle-biter running around the yard doing his little 100mph bark, majorly pissing off my Catahoulas that are chained up at the time. Well, not all of them were chained up...and no sooner than the thought "Where is Wyatt right about now?" went through my head, my biggest and most experienced hog dog (who wasn't chained up at the time) comes flying towards this dog full speed and chomps it up like a great white shark on a baby seal. He killed it in about 5 seconds, dropped it where he stood, and walked away.

Guess I'm lucky to be alive. I've bitten darn near every dentist that had the misfortune to put his hands in my mouth.

The reason they are so vicious is that they are rigged so low to the ground that their "johnson" is constantly getting snagged on speed bumps.
Being weird looking, they don't get much respect, which further ticks them off. As with any breed, there can be attitude problems if too inbred.

As regards temperament, they are a weird mix of aggression and cuddly lap dogs. A relative of mine had two, they really love family.

note to self: do not move to Layfayette until the average IQ of city government doubles.

state law DOES trump city ordinances, doesn't it?
