It was time by about 15 seconds into that clip for either one of them to have tazed or used some other intermediate weapon long before the attempted body slam. He was bought and paid for when he stepped up on the officer about ten seconds in, IMO. I mean, the dispatched call was for drunk and disorderly.

Hesitation, as usual, made it worse.

    Totally useless mini cop partner.

After getting the guy under control the officer should have body slammed that timid useless runt.

Had a high school teacher slam me exactly like that once. Then, when I hit the ground, he tried to take my gun. A deputy coroner helped keep him from getting the gun out of my holster. My Lieutenant who was there didn't bother to get involved and then, because it was my first week on the job, talked me out of arresting the guy.

I'd rather work alone than have that useless mini-cop as a partner. And in case anyone has something to say about this, I did just that for 24 years.

Our small female officers always found a reason to partner up with a male officer when going out.

The BG presented several soft targets that the smaller officer should have attacked and ended that BS!

Say's the Physicians assistant. What would you know about working with someone 4'10" and 90 lbs who wont help you in a fight, or simply can't? If you can't defend yourself then why would anyone be allowed to wear a uniform? I knew two guys now gone forever 'cause they worked with partners hired after all standards for height, weight, strength, and aggression were dropped.

Never fight once? Not even in the academy. Imagine?

Why are you even in this forum room Doc?

Even the cop that wasn’t a scale model was out matched, he was almost as tall as the BG.

The miniature figurine didn’t stand a chance in a fair fight, so not sure why she wasn’t fighting dirty, deploying taser, something. Is it too far past Christmas to play the nutcracker?

Guessing he was referring to the title, not the topic. And this was never designed as a police only forum. More of a place where non police should be able to gain a little perspective.

it's not just here. I have a contact in the UK (he's 6ft6, around 270 to 300 lbs) who comes from long line of LE. He tells me his dad was bigger than he is, and was a bobby back in the day. And he said the bobbies were all big guys back then (even though the height requirement was around 5ft10 back then).

The story he tells is that his dad was proud of the fact that he didn't encounter a man he couldn't lift off his feet standing right in front of him. Not sure how true that story is, but I'd like to believe it.

As for today? no height/size requirement for the metro police.

Many years ago I worked as a detective in Bronx Narcotics. I weighed in at 235, and I was kinda a middleweight in the unit...

I can remember hanging out in the garage when I was a little squirt with my grandfather while he and the guys on the turn were putting the brews back. Wasn’t one of them who wasn’t over 6’ and couldn’t bench press a Woody Wagon.

    Those were men. And cops.

He WAS judging the title, which left me wondering why he was here doing it.

This is a real sore subject with me and its not directed at females. I worked with a girl once who would have split this offenders head open with her K-light in a second. I worked with guys who wouldn't even get involved. It happened, again, right at the end of my career.

Ive known guys killed or hurt bad because they pinned a tin star on someone who either can't, or simply wont, defend themselves or their partners. Thats my definition of "useless" and it seems to be getting worse and worse.
