The Prvi Partizan .30-06 is one of the more fairly priced options out there these days, and gets good reviews. I have some, but haven't shot it in my Garand yet. Here are some linky-poos...

Wow, $1050! LOL...I paid about $150 in the late ‘70’s, sent to my door via USPS. Back then you had to send your scores signed off on, along with your fingerprints. I still, have copies of all my paperwork. My gun is all matching numbers.

I haven’t shot it in over a dozen years, but after reading this thread, I’m gonna be pinging this weekend...

I have a similar one, new wood and criterion barrel in .308 (Touted to be a US Navy version) by a uniquely simple yet elegant design.

Wow.... Just checked and noticed all of the CMP M1 Special Grades are sold out as of today.

Got mine about 6 years ago. Now I'm glad I did.

The only thing left are field grade M1s.

It is a slow process. I pulled mine down as far as I dared and carefully applied that oil as directed. Took about two months to do all that. Can't remember real well, but I think I coated it five times. I really wanted to hit it again, but by then I was way ready to go shoot! I gotta say it does look very nice. I'll always remember how hard it was to get that trigger guard to clamp back into place after oiling that stock. Man, it's really something to have a new M-1 rifle! Enjoy every minute!

Just beautiful. I like the idea of attaching your gun vise to your workmate too.

CMP had a long break due to Covid, so they probably just temporarily ran out or have a backlog they are filling.

may be worth it to look into reloading your own. It would also let you tailor your ammo just to your specific rifle. You won’t save a ton, but you would be able to shoot 2-3 times as much.

This is what an M1 can do at 100 yards. It was glass-bedded, new barrel, hand loads, National Match sights, shot from a bench. I think the limiting factor was me.

Nice rifle. I got mine from the DCM almost 40 years ago. A service grade five digit S/N Springfield. After I finally got around to shooting it a couple of years ago I liked it so much I bought an M1A NM.

I work with a woman, her day landed 3 days after Normandy. He spent 4 years in Europe. He brought his Garand back and now she has it.

    Nice rig my friend, congrats.

It takes a bit of research, but I reload 30-06, 6.5 Swede, and 7.5 Swiss very easily in my living room with a Lee hand press and the right dies. The hardest thing about reloading is the case prep.

The case prep I do it takes me a few nights. I decap and trim to length, then tumble them over night.
Next night i decap and prime depending how many I have.
Then the next night I load them all up.
You just need a bit of equipment. You could probably make a jig that makes it so you can dismount the press and be portable.
    Good luck.
