I tried the new Club Chalupa at Taco Bell, it was one of the better things I have ever had from there, and it didn't mess my stomach up for a change.

Actually, "Chalupa" is old Colonial Spanish nautical term for a sloop (small, two-masted sailing craft).

I grew up in South Texas and a chalupa was what is now sometimes known as a tostado. It is a flat fried tortilla that is spread with refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes and then topped with cheese.

TB used to have a menu item called the chilito. I heard they pulled that one as it was some kind of bad mexican slang word.
